Farmstay in the Sustainable Farm

Welcome to Casa Paraiso!
You will think that you have died and gone to heaven. One bathroom home is nestled atop a hill with a lovely view overlooking the verdant green valleys of the MonteVerde forests and pasturelands. From the balcony, there is a commanding view of the lush valley below.

If you are fortunate, you will have front rowseats to a specatacular lightening show. From the balcony, you will be mezmerized by the parade of butterflies and hummingbirds that visit the abundant flowers throughout the day. Despite the feeling of privacy and total seclusion, you are just a few minutes drive to the town of MonteVerde, fifteen minutes to the reserve, and within walking distance of many other local attractions including ziplining, coffee tours, and night tours.
This truly offers the best of both worlds, allowing you to see the history and authenic beauty that has made Costa Rica and Monteverde and international draw while being cose to amenities and all that is new within the area as well.
However, the best part about this home is the ability you have to take a peek into authentic Costa Rican life.
This is a third generation, small scale, sustainable farm. The animals are pasture-fed and roam freely throughout the day. It is our vision to continue to operate this farm without the use of pesticides or chemical based fertilizers and to maintain a balance of pasturelands and forest.
Guests are invited to take a tour of the farm.
Come and see the cows up close and try your hand at milking.
Take a tour of the garden, where you will find banana trees, the beginnings of a small scale coffee farm, and seasonal fruits and veggies under the care of our family. We also have sheep, goats, pigs, and poultry on the premesis that are all a part of the farm operation. MonteVerde is an area with a rich history in dairy production.
My family has been a part of it since the time that oxen were used to transport milk daily to town.
At the conclusion of the farm tour, we invite to you dine with us and try your hand at making fresh Costa Rican cheese. You can enjoy an authentic meal featuring the freshly made cheese, hand made tortillas, along with other locally sourced and seasonably available items. You will notice a diffence in the quality of the food that is locally sourced and where animals are fed a natural diet. This is an opportunity to experience "La Pura Vida" at its finest.

Our Stay in Monteverde

I loved our stay here so much, I wish we could’ve stayed here for longer then one night. The views were incredible, the host was so nice and attentive, and the place itself had everything you needed. The next time we are in Monteverde we will only be staying here.

Wonderful stay!

This is a wonderful hidden gem, a great place to get away from the city (and the general public!) The view from our room was beautiful, you could see mountains and valleys and every morning the cows came up to our room. They offered a cheese making class, a tour of the farm, and a cooking class! All wth the vest view. The only issue was finding a ride-it was a bit out of the way for uber, so having a rental car may come in handy. All in all, a 10/10 experience

Amazing Views - Part of Nature

The view from the property is EPIC. Close to town. The hosts were so sweet and nice. The cabin was cute and secluded. The water is fresh from the stream, so a little chilly, but manageable. Would recommend as a nice lovers getaway.

Cozy cabin with spectacular view

My husband and i had a great 3 night stay in the cabin. We enjoyed cocktails on the porch everynight while watching the sunset show. We really enjoyed the bread and empanada making class with Carolina. The cabin was close to attractions and the little kitchen was was very handy.

Farm stay

Orlando and his family are such a beautiful hearted family. The animal experience and getting to know how the farm is worked was great. The class on how to make cheese, empanadas,bread and tortillas by Yolanda was amazing. We enjoyed so much that we cooked all day. The laughs will be remembered for life. Thank ypu for such a great visit!

Amazing farm

The family is so friendly! They greeted us upon our arrival even though it was raining really hard. The cabin we stayed in was perfect. It had everything you need and it was super private. The view from the bed was a $1M view. You could actually see the ocean from the top of the mountain. And you have to do the tour of the farm. It was absolutely worth it. What an amazing family and such rich heritage. I highly recommend. And super close to a cool town.

The weather was changeable. Absolutely amazing views. We could see the ocean! Also parrots, raptors, songbirds. House as described. Host is welcoming and kind. Access to cloud forest, hummingbird gallery, orchid garden, local brewery. Only issue was complete lack of hot or even warm water.

Perfect getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay on the farm! The host family, who own the farm this little cabin is on, are absolutely wonderful! We took a little stroll on our last morning and visited the operational part of the small farm to visit the baby calves. We didn't get to do any of the farm tours on our short stay but heard great things about them. The cabin is cute and cozy, but not cramped and well set up, with a handy little kitchenette and a big porch. But what really makes this little getaway spot exceptional is THE VIEW!!! The cabin has a giant sliding door as most of the valley facing wall, so you can just marvel at the scenery any time you are in, but we really enjoyed just sitting out on the porch. So much so we just took dinner home one night and sat to watch the sunset. Do note this location is a bit out of town, so you will need to have a car and be comfortable driving country roads if you want to get around during your stay. But if so, this place is a hidden gem and great value. It was one of the highlights of our trip!

Beautiful view

Wonderful stay on the farm. Orlando is super nice and there was a lot to see on the property as far as animals. Be sure to get there before sunset because it’s fantastic. Very close to town and easy to find. Only negatives were lack of warm water and coffee maker was broken, but there were 3 other ways to make coffee ! Definitely exceeded my expectations.

This stay is rural and serene. My significant other and I stayed at the farm for two nights. The view is spectacular especially during sunset time. We also did all three activities offered: Night hike with Bruce, Cooking with Carolina, and Farm tour with Orlando. The Vargas family is hospitable, kind, and generous. Highly recommend for a unique stay with attentive and humble hosts in the beautiful Monteverde!

A restful Stay in the Mountains

Well located cabin on the side of a mountain with beautiful views. We met Orlando (who speaks perfect English) and walked around the farm. It's very close to the Monteverde Brewery which has great beer and a nice menu.

Another beautiful view!

This cabin was cozy, private, and included all we needed to experience the real Monteverde. The patio was just what was described with such a beautiful view of the hillside even to the bay. Orlando and family were always available to answer any questions or help. We were there for two short days to hike El Tigre Waterfall’s. The cabin was about a fifteen minute drive from Santa Elena which is a super cool town with shops and restaurants. I would absolutely stay align at this location in the future.

Perfect sunsets from Los Tornos

EN - Orlando and his family provided a great place for my father and I to enjoy a few days in the Santa Elena / Monteverde region. This property is 4 miles from Santa Elena’s town center, 5.6 miles from Monteverde’s town center, and 5 miles from Sky Adventures Monteverde Park. The cabin has a single bed (my father took the bed, and I took the floor), private shower, mini-fridge, and an amazing deck to catch sunsets and distant views of the Gulf of Nicoya. Each evening when Mr. Orlando (Orlando’s father) would tend to milking duties, we were able to see the cows in the holding pen while they waited their turn. A great place to experience nature. ES- Orlando y su familia brindaron un excelente lugar para que mi padre y yo disfrutáramos de unos días en la región de Santa Elena / Monteverde. Esta propiedad se encuentra a 6.6 km del centro de la ciudad de Santa Elena, a 9.1 km del centro de la ciudad de Monteverde y a 8 km del parque Sky Adventures Monteverde. La cabaña tiene una cama individual (mi padre tomó la cama y yo tomé el piso), ducha privada, mini-refrigerador y una terraza increíble para ver las puestas de sol y las vistas lejanas del Golfo de Nicoya. Cada noche, cuando el Sr. Orlando (el padre de Orlando) se ocupaba de las tareas de ordeño, podíamos ver las vacas en el corral de espera mientras esperaban su turno. Un gran lugar para conectarse con la naturaleza.
