The Neighborhood:

Here, visitors can walk through winding streets lined with shops selling everything from handcrafted souvenirs to vintage clothing and see Acropolis in the background. The sound of traditional Greek music fills the air as street vendors sell fresh food and local delicacies. With landmarks such as the ancient Roman Agora and the bustling Monastiraki Flea Market, this neighborhood attracts both locals and tourists alike. Whether you are interested in history, art, or just soaking up the energy of a lively city, Monastiraki has something for everyone.
Some of its key characteristics include:
1. Ancient landmarks: Monastiraki is home to the iconic Ancient Agora, a marketplace in ancient Athens that served as a hub for political, social, and economic activities.
2. Flea market: The neighborhood boasts a vibrant flea market, where one can find vintage clothing, antiques, and local crafts.
3. Nightlife: Monastiraki has a bustling nightlife with bars, taverns, and clubs that cater to locals and tourists alike.
4. Food scene: The neighborhood is also known for its food scene, featuring traditional Greek food as well as international cuisine.
5. Street art: Monastiraki is adorned with colorful street art, graffiti, and murals.
6. Shopping: Due to its central location, Monastiraki is a popular Shoppingt destination, with numerous shopping street with mostly clothes and tourist souvenir shops.
7. Pedestrian-friendly: Much of the neighborhood is pedestrianized, allowing visitors to explore the area on foot and absorb the vibrant atmosphere.
Getting Around:
Best way to get aroung from this apartment is going downstairs to the street and walk- everything is there. If you need to get out of the center , the Monastiraki metro station is 50 meters from the apartment in Athinas st.
For taxi it is the best to download the app "Free Now" so the drivers know how to behave and give resonable prices and service.
Other Things to Note:
The apartment is on the second floor without an elevator (1922 neo classical building)
This is the most active area of the city, so if you are looking for a silent apartment - this is not the place. All Athens is noisy but this apartment is in the main activity center of Athens with restaurans and bars on the streets down from the apartment.
Going up to the roof is from iron stairs outside the apartment. The roof is common for this apartment and 1 neighbor apartment, so it is not totlly privet (though they are always never go up...)
