Villa a L'aise sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms, heated pool, terrace, BBQ & large garden

- We are new on here - be the 1st to book & leave a review. Villa a L'aise is the perfect place to relax and enjoy your holiday in South West France. Villa a L'aise is a modern free-standing bungalow with all rooms on the ground floor, a fully equipped kitchen, and a heated pool to extend the season. It is located on the edge of the small pretty village of Yviers which has its own restaurant/bar and a baguette machine (the future!). The house has 4 comfortable bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 separate toilets. There is an open kitchen/dining/living room with a fully equipped kitchen (the owners have their own restaurant) where you can prepare delicious meals. Sliding doors from the dining room lead to a very spacious terraced garden with a heated pool, sunbathing terrace, outdoor shower and a stone coal BBQ for great outdoor cooking. It also has a summer house with its separate toilet and sink. The garden extends above the pool area and has a swing for children. There is also a wooded area which also belongs to the house. There is enough space for everybody.
A lovely quiet place to stay we think. It is ideal for family holidays, friends' gatherings, and also a multi-generation break. We also rent out for long weekends if you are attending a wedding in the area or race meeting at the Circuit, for example. The pool is open from the end of March to the end of October and is heated. The house benefits from central heating as well as air conditioning.

Things to do in the area:
Yviers is about an hour's drive from the cosmopolitan and culinary city of Bordeaux and 1.5 hours from the beaches on the Atlantic coast. The market town of Chalais is within easy reach (3-minute drive) with a weekly food and craft market. The idyllic village of Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne (recognised as 'one of the most beautiful villages in France') is on the Dordogne border (a 15-minute drive). Both have shops, restaurants and bars.
The area is perfect for hiking and cycling. Kayaking on the river Dronne, at Aubeterre or Parcoul, is forever popular and both horse riding and tennis are easy to arrange. Many villages have their own tennis courts (Chalais, Brossac) which you can book at the town hall.
A 10-minute drive away is the lake with sandy beach Etang Vallier with a clubhouse, bar/restaurant and minigolf. The lake is also perfect for paddle boarding.
The capital of the Charente Angouleme is a wonderful city to explore with independant shops, a shopping mall, a morning market 'les halles' . The capital city is also known for its 2 annual events: The ' Festival bande dessinee' (comic strip festival) in January and the 'Circuit des remparts' (classic car rally) in September. Angouleme is a 45-minute drive from Yviers.
Many of the local 'domains' offer Pineau and wine tours and tastings. Pineau is a fortified wine and is the prized regional aperitif. The nearby famous town of Cognac (50-minute drive) also offers tours of the famous Cognac houses Remy Martin, Martell, Hennessy and Courvoisier in Jarnac. Gin has now also become one of their specialties.
