About this property
Melin-Dwyfor - a self catering cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Location, location, location is the word for this property. Set on the banks of the river Dwyfor this beautiful, two bedroom, ground floor cottage has Swallows and Amazons written all over it! From whiling away your days fishing for salmon or swimming down the river, there is plenty to do while staying at the cottage. A short, 5 minute drive will bring you to the popular seaside town of Criccieth where you'll find beautiful beaches, great restaurants and cafes and the castle of course.
The property itself is located on the ground floor of a beautiful, traditional, stone cottage. The entrance brings you into the open plan kitchen, sitting room and dining room. Recently renovated, the look and feel of the room is modern and minimal with lots of splashes of colour that add to the ambience and feel to the room.
The grey hues of the kitchen units and tiles work really well to separate it from the rest of the room and there is everything you need to cater for your group - it's perfect for a family of four. The sitting room area has plenty of comfy seating and the log burner effect fire gives the room its warm and cosy feel that many look for in a hideaway cottage in Wales.
The double and twin rooms are inkeeping with the rest of the house; a minimal feel but with great soft furnishings which bring warmth and they are both carpeted whereas the rest of the cottage has floorboards. The beds are incredibly inviting and a good nights sleep is sure to be on the cards here. The double bed can also be made up as twin beds at request. Waking up to the beautiful views of the garden and river are just an added bonus.
There is a family bathroom which has a walk-in shower, WC and washbasin.
A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome at this property.

At the cottage itself, there is a private patio area with table and chairs. You also have access to the beautiful gardens which run down onto the banks of the river. The cottage comes with a fishing licence which enables guests to spend time fishing for salmon if they so wish. The river is also safe to swim in making it a great place to spend some time.
5 minutes in the car to the south is Criccieth. A great seaside town where there are plenty of places to eat and drink along with the famous castle, and the stunning beaches which are great for swimming off. The Bear Grylls Survival academy is just down the road if you fancy a bit of the great outdoors along with paintballing and off road segway.
A little further along the coast will bring you to Pwllheli which is a larger town and where you can spend days sailing from the marina - there is a market on Thursdays and again, plenty of places to eat and drink. The Llyn Peninsula has lots on offer with lots of stunning beaches and hidden coves to discover and beautiful small towns and villages, including Abersoch and Nefyn.
Portmierion Village is 20 minutes away in Porthmadog along with the Welsh Highlands steam train which will take you through the mountains to Caernarfon. Further inland are the Snowdonia mountains and lakes where you can take part in outdoor and water sport activities - there are lots of activity providers that can make a day in the mountains truly memorable. Zip world and Slate mountain are based in Blaenau Ffestiniog and a great place to spend the day. Towns like Betws Y Coed, Beddgelert and Llanberis are all must have places to visit and are within an hour's drive from the cottage.
