About this property
Elegant Holiday Cottage on the Banks of the River Artro | Artro
With stunning views and close to some truly beautiful natural landmarks, this four-bedroom, elegant holiday cottage on the banks of the River Artro is a fantastic getaway. Nestled in the tiny hamlet of Pentre Gwynfryn, Artro is only a couple of miles from Cwm Bychan and the famous Roman Steps leading into the Rhinog mountains.
The drive up to the cottage from the main road is beautiful; a tree-lined, winding road running along the river Artro. The house itself is a traditional white building with a slate roof, which is synonymous with the area - beautifully renovated, it is light, spacious and modern.
You come into the cottage directly into the main hallway. To the left is the open plan kitchen, dining room and the main sitting room. To the right is a sitting room come sun room - complete with sofa, reading chair and log burner, it is a great place to sit and read or just sit and take in the beautiful views through the bay windows. There is also a small TV here which makes it a great room for the kids to escape to when they want some downtime away from the adults!
Into the main room, the sitting room area has lots of sofa space, log burner and TV. You also have another set of bay windows that look out over the river and out onto the mountains beyond. Through an open arch brings you into the dining area. Consisting of a traditional farm style dining table that comfortably seats eight, it looks out from the huge windows that run along the width of the wall where there are more beautiful views to be had.
The kitchen is spacious with white wooden units, thick oak tops and, butler sink. The slate floors keep with those traditional elements. The bar that separates the dining room also works as an additional dining space with the bar stools - this is also a great place for those who are keeping the designated ‘cook' company to sit and have a drink! New appliances and everything you need to cater for your group is here. There is a laundry room and ground floor WC that lead off from the kitchen.
The master bedroom is located on the ground floor. You will probably have to draw straws for this room, I won't lie. An en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower, there is also a separate seating area that looks out through the french windows that lead out to your own patio area - it is truly idyllic. Using neutral tones with wooden panelled walls, the room is light, airy and relaxing to be in.
Upstairs brings you to the other three bedrooms - two doubles and a twin. All the rooms are beautifully decorated using modern, neutral colours for both the soft furnishings and on the walls - as with the downstairs bedroom they all feel calm, light and airy. There is a family bathroom on this floor with a shower over bath arrangement, WC and washbasin.
A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome at this property.

What makes this property unique
Pentre Gwynfryn is located just outside Llanbedr and is one of the area's hidden gems. The cottage itself has its own patio which looks out over the river, forests and mountains beyond. There are numerous walks right from the door step.
A 10 minute drive will take you up to Cwm Bychan, a large lake which is also the entry point for the famous Roman Steps walk which takes you into the Rhinog Mountains. There are some beautiful stops on the way up to the lake where you can stop off and swim in small pools, one of which has a set of three small waterfalls - it's a local's place they like to keep secret!
10 minutes away in the next valley is home to the famous Nantcol Waterfalls. There is a campsite here, but a nominal parking fee and they will give you access to the waterfalls. During the summer months they have a pizza company that comes to make pizza by the river - make a point of doing this, it's great, especially if you have children in the mix.
20 minutes to the south will bring you to Barmouth. Blue flag beaches and a traditional seaside town with a funfair, a fantastic range of shops, cafes, restaurants and, harbour make it a great day out. Further along will bring you to Dolgellau which is home to Coed Y Brenin mountain biking centre, the mecca of mountain biking. There are 8 trails ranging from blue to black so there is something for everyone. There are also running and walking trails.
North from the cottage brings you to Harlech with the castle, a stunning sandy beach, Royal St Davids golf course, and a climbing wall for those rainy days. Home made cakes, ice cream and some lovely independent gift and antique shops make this a lovely place to spend some time.
In terms of the bigger attractions, you are 30 mins from one of Zip World locations and Portmeirion Village. An hour will bring you to Betws Y Coed, Slate Mountain and the other Zip World location and The National White Water Centre.
