About this property

Beautiful, romantic 4* cottage in rural setting with Country Club membership.

Tikkidew Cottage - Designed for couples to escape to a comfortable hideaway, As the photos show, Tikkidew is a beautiful old stone cottage, converted from a seed barn. It is a spacious & romantic retreat for those seeking peace & privacy. With a fully equipped modern kitchen and a spacious lounge with leather suite, Tikkidew is a real 'home from home.' The cottage is centrally heated and has double glazing throughout, plus a log burner fire in the lounge for those cosy evenings. The bedroom is a galleried, upstairs area with a super king size bed (or 2 single beds) which overlooks the lounge. There is free internet throughout the property.

Outside, Tikkidew has a private back yard, a secluded front garden, sun loungers, a BBQ & eating area and off road parking.

Located near the beautiful Tamar Valley National Landscape, Rowse Farm is a 17th century ‘Grade 2’ listed farmhouse set in 40 peaceful acres of pasture, woodland & streams, with 3 holiday cottages. The Weary Friar pub is a short walk away and serves lovely pub food. There are many other local places to eat just a short drive away.
Also within striking distance of Rowse are some of the West Country's best attractions - the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the National Maritime Museum, the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, beaches on both North & South coasts of Cornwall, the Moors, the National Trust houses at Cotehele, Antony, Saltram & Lanhydrock. The historic coastal villages of Looe & Polperro are also nearby. There are too many local walks to list here, but a few of our favourites are along the coastal path from Rame Head to Cawsand and the beautiful National Trust's Lansallos Cove, which is dog friendly all year round.

Cornwall's rugged coastline and quaint villages are the backdrop for many Films, TV series and books. Take time out to explore the literary world of Rosamunde Pilcher, shooting locations for Poldark, Doc Martin and Beyond Paradise, to name a few.

Guests will enjoy complimentary membership to the China Fleet Country Club and are welcome to make use of their Health Club facilities and golf. Additional charges apply.

If you require a special break, please contact the owners directly.

Stay at Rowse Farm Cottages
We had a fab time. We stayed in Tikkidew Cottage which is beautiful. It has a home from home feel with everything you would need. Barry and Kirsty are a lovely couple, really welcoming. From the minute we arrived they were there to help. I would highly recommend the holiday location.

A wonderful stay with fantastic hosts
We had a brilliant time having never been in this area of Cornwall before. The place was so clean, easy to find with terrific facilities and set in a beautiful landscape - really everything you need. Nothing was too much trouble for Barry and Kirsty who were very responsive any time before and during the stay. That said, we had our privacy and felt as though we were in our own little idyll away from everything. The hosts sent really comprehensive information and made recommendations for places to eat and local walks. We tried some of them and were always pleased that we had. Highly recommend and we will be visiting again.

Excellent location
We loved the feel of the area driving there and with great private parking it was easy access from the car to the cottage and we were set up in minutes of arriving. It was a great place for traveling around both Cornwall and Devon and there are plenty of supermarkets to choose from nearby with some lovely pubs and restaurants. All in all we loved it and would definitely book again.

A wonderful place to stay. A marvelous job has been done converting an old building into a modern living place. Back a one lane road, it is quiet and peaceful. Our hosts were extremely helpful.

Beautiful cottage
Really enjoyed staying at this beautiful cottage. Scrupulously clean and comfortable. With seating both Infront and behind the cottage, we spent much time outside enjoying the relaxing countryside and wildlife. Wonderful host. Only slight downside was although the shower worked well, I found it a little tricky to get into. Would definitely return here.

A wonderful secluded cottage
We had a fantastic week on Rowse farm in Tikkidew cottage. Our hosts Barry and Kirsty were friendly and helpful giving advice on places to see and also eat. The cottage was spotlessly clean and looked as if it hadn't been let before. The surroundings are wonderful and there is the opportunity to walk round the fields (which were filled with wild flowers) and woods. The cottage is in a superb hidden location with easy access to both the coast and moorlands. Thoroughly recommended.

Great place to access the south coast and the Tamar Valley. Really quiet and peaceful setting
We stayed in Tikkidew. Lovely cosy one bedroom cottage with a fire. Barry and Kirsty are really friendly and welcoming - on hand if you need them in the farmhouse. The cottage is beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and they even provided a Covid pack with sanitiser etc. We will come back as it’s perfect for a quiet few days with good local walks.

Tikkidew Cottage, Rowse Farm
The property is beautiful in a rural setting so quiet and peaceful and only 10 mins from the local town Saltash. The property has everything you will need, the couple Barry and Kirsty are warm and welcoming nothing too much trouble and they make sure the property is spotless If anybody has any COVID concerns. The local pub the Weary Fryer is 10 min walk and serves great food make sure you book in advance during COVID even for a drink, we found this with most pubs and restaurants during our stay. Saltash train station is great if you fancy a day off from driving we went to St Ives it cost £21 return for both of us and you get great views of the coast. Would recommend Rowse Farm without hesitation lovely relaxing stay even in these challenging times.

Tranquility but a stone's throw from Plymouth and beaches
Great location, wonderful hosts who could not do enough to make us feel welcome. Really well furnished throughout. We had issues with the WiFi, which Barry worked hard to resolve. We'd arranged to take two bicycles with us and asked if there was somewhere to store them. I was really pleased to find that the storage was in a farm building that gave great protection from the weather.

Peace, Quiet, Tranquility
We stayed at Tikkidew Cottage for a week in July. We were lucky enough to have wall to wall sunshine which helped make our stay in this lovely cottage one of the best chilled out holidays we've had. The peace & tranquility of the location along with the well equipped accommodation was second to none. Andrew & Sally were perfect hosts, on hand if we needed anything but happy to leave us to it which we appreciated. The local pub, the Weary Friar (a 15 minute walk away) served great food & the Who'd Have Thought It pub (a 10 minuted drive away) was fantastic & we'd thoroughly recommend it. Looe, Polperro, Whitsand Bay, Carlyon Bay, Charlestown are all less than an hour away by car & well worth a visit. We very much hope to go back to Tikkidew in the near future for another memorable holiday. Thanks again to Andrew & Sally.

simply and in every respect perfect - 10 out of 10
Cottage was exactly as described. Photos spot on. Kitchen is larger than we thought, and was really quite nice for daily breakfast as well as evening meals on the few days that we stayed "home". Extremely clean, perfectly maintained. Living and sleeping areas perfect. TV, audio system, all perfect. Lounging in the living area was perfect after each of our daily daytrips. Private estate is itself rich with history, it's 400 years old. Modern amenities in historic buildings... do take the time to pause on this while there, it's to Andrew's credit how the accommodations are while still respecting their history. There's a "respect nature" touch to everything they've done. Recyling, proper waste disposal - present and well thought through without being overbearing. Andrew is super. Communication before, during and after our stay beyond courteous. Couldn't help but like Andrew - just a good guy. We can't think him enough! Everything is well prepared, local info, tips and such all available in a book in the property, and Andrew keeps pulse on how guests themselves find the tips he provides and adjusts if needed. There's a Waitrose, Tesco, Lidl and Morrisons all within a short drive from the property - your self-catering needs are all easily met. We went pretty much anywhere and everywhere from this cottage on a daily basis. Jazz/Blues festival in Plymouth to walks all the way at Lands End (a bit of a drive but don't let that scare you off). Looe, Falmouth, Salcombe, all easy drives from the cottage per day. For us, a Cornwall/west Devon perfect central spot to stay and start/end from each day. (Sea)food throughout Cornwall was amazing... (we're first-timers to the area). Our approach was to check the weather, take the tips from Andrew, and use online maps/tips/reviews/guides to plan out day trips. Internet in the cottage was fine for this but wifi speeds too slow to stream video. Our needs were met. If you want/needs faster speeds, we found T-Mobile had 4G speeds/connections at the property, Vodafone and a couple of others were slower and probably won't support streaming needs but normal email and website access over the wifi on the property is fine (you *are* in a 400 year old cottage - not in a city centre). Would we stay here again? Absolutely. Now just hoping that this property won't be fully booked due to popularity the next time we want to come here!!!

Host profile image
After meeting on the "Clipper Round The World Yacht Race", and previously spending many years living in the busy streets of London and York, we decided to move to the relaxing West Country to enjoy a better lifestyle. After much research, we bought Rowse - a 400 year old farmhouse & estate. The previous owners had worked hard to restore it and it is now a beautiful home for us & our guests to enjoy.
We have continued to improve the cottages and we are passionate about providing luxurious accommodation, to a high standard and with a homely feel that we ourselves would be happy to stay in. We have a number of guests who return to stay with us each year and we take great pride in welcoming both old and new guests to share in the beauty here at Rowse.
We love to explore the local area and find new walks (both dog and non-dog friendly!), new pubs and cafés and new places to eat that we can then share with our guests. We thoroughly enjoy living in this special part of the country and we look forward to sharing it with our guests.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Rowse because of its secluded, peaceful location & its beautiful 40 acres of woods, pasture, streams & gardens. Often referred to as the "Forgotten Corner" South East Cornwall is one of Cornwall's best kept secrets. The stunning Rame Peninsula, the Tamar Valley, Bodmin and Dartmoor moors are all within easy reach, not to mention the historic Plymouth waterfront, the Hoe and narrow streets of the Barbican. We enjoy dog walking around Rowse and often take the short drive to Downderry Beach or Tregantle Beach in Whitsand Bay, which are dog friendly all year round. Siblyback Lake up on Bodmin moor isn't too far away and the yummy Olive & Co café there is a real treat!
We are confident that you will enjoy your stay at Rowse Farm and all the West Country has to offer!

What makes this property unique

Rowse Farm is surrounded by beautiful, peaceful countryside, ideal for exploring by foot or just kicking back and relaxing in the cottage gardens. Main road routes are only a short drive away, so a day out to the beaches at Seaton, Downderry and Whitsand Bay or trips to Cotehele House, Pentillie Castle, Lanhydrock and the Eden Project are all within easy reach. Rowse really does offer the best of both worlds - tranquility in and around the cottage, or the more populated beaches and visitor attractions. Lots of our guests enjoy a few days out and about and then balance it with a few days chilling out and enjoying the wildlife and seclusion that Rowse has to offer.
