Madrid's Tetuán district is incredibly diverse, making it ideal for newcomers to the city. The area is a contrast in old and new, with historic landmarks set beside modern high-rise apartment buildings or retail complexes. Tetuán is the setting for the city's tallest skyscraper, the iconic Gate of Europe twin office towers -- also called the KIO Towers. Other neighborhood highlights include the Mercado de Maravillas, a beloved food market with plenty of stalls and tapas counters, and vast Agustín Rodríguez Sahagún Park. You can find everything from swanky cocktail lounges to tapas bars to Irish pubs in the city, with many restaurants serving up top-rate international cuisine. There are also supermarkets like Carrefour for those who would rather cook for themselves.
Ventilla is a lively neighborhood set within Madrid's Tetuán district. Thanks to a variety of bars, cafes, and restaurants, the area is perfect for newcomers to the capital. Nature lovers flock to the verdant Parque de la Ventilla, a gorgeous greenspace dotted with walking paths and playgrounds.
