About this property
The Star in Taddington, 9 bedroom exclusive venue. Close to Buxton and Bakewell.
Discover the charm of these three traditional Derbyshire stone cottages, cleverly transformed into an exclusive venue with surprising hidden gems. Boasting 9 bedrooms, including one on the ground floor, 6 en-suites, and 2 shared bathrooms, this dog-friendly retreat accommodates 18 adults or up to 28 guests if children are part of the group. The cottages hold a rich history, with Star House having been a former pub, 'The Star,' and the smaller cottage serving as the village's 'Oddfellows Meeting Room' in 1750.
A standout feature is the sunken conservatory, creating an amazing open-plan kitchen/dining room that opens onto a private patio. This unique layout offers the flexibility to gather together or find individual spaces within each cottage. Star House provides the perfect backdrop for relaxation, letting you soak up the ambience of your own country retreat in the picturesque Peak District.
Conveniently situated between Buxton and Bakewell, this venue offers incredible walks right from your doorstep. Unwind and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Peak District, making lasting memories in this character-filled haven. This property is dog friendly and we charge £30 per dog for the duration of the stay.

About the host
Hosted by Peak Venues

Established in 2006, Peak Venues is a leading, independent accommodation provider, offering original and unique self catering holiday homes across the Peak District and Derbyshire.
Why they chose this property
We took the advertising of The Star over in 2016 as we saw the potential of the property being perfect for family groups looking for a luxury self-catering property. The three attached cottages offer a wealth of character and charm plus a fascinating history. Star House (situated in the middle) was a former public house called ‘The Star’ and in 1750 the smaller cottage was the villages ‘Oddfellows Meeting Room’.
What makes this property unique
The Star is designed to offer you the flexibility of all being together and yet finding your own space in each independent dwelling should you wish. The real treat is the sunken conservatory which creates the most amazing open plan kitchen/dining room and leads straight out onto a private patio.
