Tropical Paradise
We absolutely loved our stay at Rabbit Hill. The property is even more beautiful than the pictures portray. The house is very comfortable - the front porch is amazing! We received a courtesy call from the owner a couple of weeks before we arrived, and he imparted some very useful advise. The staff is wonderful and went out of the way to make us comfortable. We enjoyed watching the monkey troupe most mornings and every late afternoon... they would feed from the fruit trees while the little ones played on the lawn and in the trees. Floating in the pool, dozing in the hammocks, early morning coffee and late afternoon cocktails in the lookout, and as another guest said, toodling around the southeast corner of Barbados. So many wonderful people to meet and beautiful sights to see. Hiking to the Atlantis for lunch along the shore and having Winston drive us to the Oistens Fish Fry were two definite highlights. Our only regret is that we could only stay for a week. We will not make that mistake next time!

Paradise of nature
Rabbit Hill was amazing, Just as described, it was an idyllic retreat in a natural, beautiful garden. We stayed for two weeks and hired a car from Scotty’s for 3 days during our stay. They were great. WIth the car we visited St Nicholas Abbey and rum distillery, the WIldlife Reserve and Gun Hill Signal Station, east coast beaches, Bridgetown including the Barbados Museum, Oistins for a fish lunch, Hastings for a great wine shop, Speightstown for the beach and lunch, Holetown for the best supermarket (Masseys) and Harrison's Cave. We got the bus half way to Bathsheba and walked the rest, stopping at Andromeda Botanic Gardens on the way. In Bathsheba we visited Dina’s bar for lunch, Uncle Joe’s for an afternoon fish cutter sandwich, De Garage bar, Zemi Café for a drink and we got a taxi to the Atlantis Hotel restaurant for a wonderful birthday dinner. We also had a couple of visits to the Old Brigand Rum Shop bar near Martins Bay where we were made to feel like locals, enjoying local cooking, rum and world cup football on the big screen with the local customers. The house was amazing, feeling like a home from home and we were well looked after by the staff (Agnes, Sandra, Winston and Anderson). Winston the gardener caught up with us every day but was not intrusive at all. He picked fruit and kept us topped up with coconut water as well as helping us with advice on buses and where to visit. We spent many an evening on the veranda with restful jazz and cocktails. The pool was immaculately clean and bigger than it looks in the photos. You really have to be there to appreciate the true beauty and size of the garden. Having a stroll around the garden and exploring all the nooks and crannies was part of the beauty of the place. It was amazing waking up and laying in bed looking out over the Atlantic Ocean with green monkeys climbing over the balcony and a nice cool air conditioned room to chill out in. The green monkeys are fascinating to watch but need to be discouraged from the house but they were no problem at all as they are very wary of humans and will run off if they see you. Things we would do differently next time: be better prepared for the mosquitos and other biting insects (apparently it was a particularly bad year for those this year - Nov- Dec 2022), get our main shopping from Massey’s at Holetown (it’s further than Six Cross Road and it’s an international supermarket rather than a local one but the range, prices and experience was much bett

Perfect getaway
This place was simply amazing! We were a little nervous about driving but it went really well and just need to remember go slower than the locals. The kitchen was incredibly stocked with kitchen items. I have rented quite a few places and not nearly as impressive as this. We missed the grocery store on the way out as we were concentrating so much on driving so that was the only unfortunate thing. Agnes directed is to a little local spot that really had been closed 20 minutes but they did cook us some fish, fries and a salad. We were able to make it back to the place in the dark. We truly went around the entire island enjoying popular sites. I enjoyed coffee every morning looking out at the amazing view and waiting for the monkeys to scamper by. Winston would bring me limes each morning for my vodka cocktail later in day. Both him and Agnes were so friendly. We truly will come back here and want to stay longer next time. Loved items that were left over to use like sunscreen, shampoo etc in case one forgot. We left items in the fridge as well. Such a fabulous place. Thanks Tom for sharing your paradise home.

Stunning Property! Spectacular Vacation!!
We can happily confirm EVERYTHING wonderful that has been conveyed by all of the amazed guests who have stayed at Rabbit Hill! Also our first trip to Barbados. This place is a love letter to the Island and the Culture. Cannot imagine having stayed anywhere else. If you are fortunate enough to visit, it will set a new standard for vacation stays! Great thanks to all who made the experience so rich: Tom, Agnes & Winston (and their mom) and Winston Holder. You guys are terrific! Hope to return soon (sigh). Now, just enjoying the memories and pictures!!! XO Bob, Lee Ann, Bob & Elisa

Paradise
This was our first time to Barbados and we have to say that staying at Rabbit Hill was probably one of the nicest places we have experienced. The property is a beautiful piece of paradise that embraces you on so many levels it's hard to believe its real, a place that brings dreams of paradise to reality. Everyone was very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. It was great to explore the island and come back to the quiet side away from the resort busyness. This property is a must stay at for sure!!

The Best of Everything
Just got back from an amazing week at Rabbit Hill! The house is very comfortable and the property is spectacular - I agree with everyone that the pictures don't do it justice! Started every day with a coffee on the lookout, watching the waves and basking in the sunshine. Then, spent the days exploring the island and experiencing the local culture and people. Coming home to a refreshing swim in the pool and then having a quiet dinner on the huge porch was the perfect end to each day. We loved the two big hammocks on the porch and enjoyed the visits from the monkeys and tiny birds. Tom was so helpful and we took much of the advice he provided in the Renter's Guide. Agnes is a truely wonderful person who works very hard to ensure that your stay goes smoothly. We also enjoyed our visits from Winston who opened up a coconut for us - such a treat! Do rent a car and drive yourself around the island. There's no better way to see the island and meet the locals. Make sure to download google GPS. Try a tour with Small Cats and enjoy snorkelling with the turtles and colourful fish. Surfing with the turtles at Freights Bay is a fun experience! Contact Ride the Tide for board rentals. Try the hiking paths along the coast by the house - the view is amazing! Enjoyed meals at the Atlantis Hotel, The Roundhouse, Cafe Luna, and Martin's Bay. Fresh fish purchased at the fish market in Oistins is easily prepared on the BBQ provided at the house. Overall, we had an amazing time at this beautiful home and hope we can return again some day!

Loved everything about it. It was perfect for our family vacation!
During booking and after booking, both the owner, Tom, and the property manager, Agnes, were very helpful and resourceful. They both provided us with great information, the rental guide was very detailed and it was obvious that they are interested in ensuring the guests enjoy the stay on the property and in Barbados. Upon arrival of the property, we were just stunned by how beautiful and large this place is, I echo the other reviewers that pictures just couldn't capture its full beauty. The house itself was not large, but was efficiently laid out and was perfect for our party of 8. The rooms were simple, classy and clean, very nicely kept. The kitchen was also sufficiently equipped for making meals. We did cook for ourselves on most of the evenings. We also really liked spotting the creatures on the property: Monkeys, lizards, geckos and bats in the evening. My children were thrilled to see them and called them "our little friends". Our party has three generations, the property was perfect such that it kept us all together but provided enough space for everyone as we all have different interests. My parents enjoyed short walks on and around the property, my husband enjoyed resting and reading in the hammock on the deck, and my children enjoyed swimming in the pool. The property also has stunning views from the deck and the lookout point (viewing sun rise there was magical, but you have to get up really early as sunrise in Barbados is around 5:30). Winston the gardener is very friendly and sweet. He gave us coconut juice on the 2nd day we arrived. We also bought chickens and eggs from his family, they were delicious. Initially, we were concerned about the location and logistics, but it actually was not as bad as we had imagined. We rented a car, and used our cell phones as GPS. Yes, we did get lost multiple times, but that's how we discovered farmers' markets and fruit & veggie stands. Yes, driving on the left side of the road was a bit confusing at the beginning (especially for left turns, we ended up in right lane a few times), but we got used to it fairly quickly. Being away from the tourists areas was great, I can't imagine being crammed in the hotels or condos after having stayed at Rabbit Hill. Overall, it's a well deserved 5 star. I would return to Rabbit Hill and recommend it to my friends.

Rabbit Hill is gorgeous.
This is the place to stay if you enjoy serenity, local flavor, and monkey watching. None of which you get on the touristy west side of the island. We loved exploring Barbados using Rabbit Hill as our home base, and returning to relax on the porch or in the pool in the evenings. You will need a car to get to other areas of the island for activities or attractions. I really liked how the remote location allowed us to see so much of Barbados from driving around. We had an amazing time!

A Visit to the Garden of Eden
My wife and I recently returned from our visit to our own private "Garden of Eden." Andre, the owner, was extremely easy to deal with. He quickly responded to our questions, got things taken care of smoothly, and left a very accurate renters guide which was extremely helpful. The staff on the property were excellent. Agnes greeted us as we arrived and explained everything to us, and called during the week to make sure everything was OK. Winston, the gardener picked fresh fruits for us to eat and gave us a nice tour pf the property. The property - magnificent. Your own paradise to enjoy. The beauty is beyond! With the constant roar of the ocean in the background. Total privacy. The pool is deceptively large...much bigger than the pictures would suggest. Very cleverly designed...lots of space on the deep end to swim laps...yet lots of shallow space for little ones. The outdoor deck is enormous, and is the basic primary living space when not going to sleep. Although we had privacy, yet you did not feel isolated, as the city bus passed by in the area, and you are not more than 40 minutes from anywhere on the island. Very good grocery shopping only 20 minutes away. We were a short drive from Bath beach for swimming and Bathsheba beach for long walks along the ocean. Lots of other great places to visit - all not very far away. Renting a car is a must...just need to get used to driving on the left side of the road...some of which are very narrow. Alternately, you can use Taxis to get around as well. Could not have asked for a better place to unwind from the stress of hectic city life at home. 2 thumbs up to Rabbit Hill!

Magical paradise
My husband and I spent two beautiful weeks at Rabbit Hill. The pictures do it no justice, it is a magical place to stay. We drove to other places or hiked around on the east coast and enjoyed every moment on the island, but the best was to come home to the sounds of the surf and your own pool for a quick swim. Agnes, Winston and Angela kept us informed, provided fresh coconut water and bananas, and Angela made us feel at home by cooking our Christmas dinner. This is a great family get away.

Perfect Getaway!
A group of us stayed at Rabbit Hill over the holiday break this year and had such a fantastic time! The property was everything we could have imagined, and just as described--actually, even better! We stayed for a week and Agnes (property manager) and Winston (grounds keeper) were very helpful and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. They brought us fresh fruit from the property upon our arrival and Winston cracked coconuts for us each morning he was there so we could have fresh coconut water. Amazing! Most days we went out exploring the island to see all it has to offer, which is a lot! But we were very happy to come home to the serene east coast and Rabbit Hill every evening. Most evenings we made big meals and spent time out on the porch conversing about our adventures that day. Upon the owner's recommendation we had a local woman, by the name of Angela, come and cook us an authentic Bajan meal one night.. and it was absolutely delicious and completely worth it! We all found Barbados to be a spectacular island. For anyone who tends to get a bit nervous traveling internationally and to new cultures (like myself!), Barbados is a great place to visit because the island is filled with really friendly people who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Our whole group was in agreement that if we hadn't stayed at Rabbit Hill, we probably wouldn't have experienced even half of what we experienced on the island. It was our entire group's first time to Barbados and everyone had such an amazing time that on the last day we were all in very solemn moods because we had to leave and go back to our regular lives. We will DEFINITELY be going back to Rabbit Hill again soon.. hopefully for 2 weeks next time!!

Totally relaxing and beautiful
We stayed one week at Rabbit Hill and after a particulary hectic work/school schedule in London, it was exactly the relaxing environment we needed. It exceeded our expectations which were high as the photographs are lovely, but they do not convey the real beauty of the place when you are there. The owner Tom was exceedingly helpful with his email communication and advice, which turned out to be perfect. We spent a lot of time chilling out in the hammocks on the porch which has lovely views of the garden with the sea in the distance. The breeze from the Atlantic was very welcome to cool us down along with the pool which although small, was a lot of fun. Winston, the gardener was lovely and supplied us with fruit from the nearby trees. We had a lot of fun watching the monkey's in the garden at the back of the house. This is a family home where you can see and feel all the love and hard work that has gone into it. We really enjoyed staying on the east coast, which felt like the real Barbados.

Beautiful, peaceful, idyllic spot.
We are a family of 5 ( three teenage boys) and have recently returned from a two week stay at Rabbit Hill. We have had a wonderful vacation and would love to return to Barbados and Rabbit Hill. The house is in a beautiful position overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and even in August there are cooling breezes particularly on the wonderful deck. It is very well equipped and spacious. Both Agnes and Winston who look after the property are very friendly and helpful but unobtrusive. The garden is amazing with loads to explore. The driveway was excellent for games of road tennis! We loved being on the east of the island, whenever we ventured west we were always very happy to get back. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Even though your are in a relatively remote and unspoilt part of the island nothing is very far away- and any journey along the roads of Barbados is interesting with lots to see. We visited many of the islands beaches but our favourite was Bottom Bay, which we usually had completely to ourselves and is only a 20 minute drive away. Walking along the coast both to Bathsheba and Martin's Bay was a wonderful experience with the most stunning scenery. We went snorkelling, surfing, swimming with turtles, visited a rum factory and plantation and lots more. There is an amazing amount to see and do on such a small island. We had lovely meals in The Atlantis Hotel, The Fish Pot and The Lone Star but also at the take away in Martin's Bay! We also enjoyed several meals on the BBQ at Rabbit Hill. We are a family who prefer to be away from the usual tourist areas and Rabbit Hill is perfect for this. Even the passing of tropical storm Isaac made for a couple of dramatic weather days which was yet another experience. I would recommend Rabbit Hill to anyone who wants to experience the more remote, peaceful, dramatic, beautiful and less touristy side of Barbados.

Rabbit Hill--Idyllic, for sure
We loved our time at Rabbit Hill and only wish we could have stayed longer. Winston and Agnes were very helpful and so friendly, your home was very comfortable and we enjoyed the beautifully tended grounds, trees, animals, pool and porches equally as much. Your packet of information was invaluable but we do recommend that guests take your advice and have Winston pick you up at the airport; it's a hard place to find. The rental car company delivered our car to us the next day- very convenient. We explored beaches and sights all around the island- recommend the Grenade Hill Forest Preserve (to see wildlife) and St. Nicholas Abbey(history and nice luncheon spot) in particular. We cooked "in" most of the time as we didn't want to leave our beautiful "estate" and bought fresh fish in Oistins at the fish market. Our adult children surfed most days. The house at Rabbit Hill was was nicely kept and equipped, the photos don't do it justice. For a quiet get-away this is the place to go; it's lovely. Bill and Ann

A FEEL GOOD PLACE.
Coming to Rabbit Hill is like coming home, it feels good immediately. This little banana plantation is cozy. While we were there it was our own little bit of heaven. We sat on the gallery, drinking rum punches. Layed in the hammocks & read, slept & just let ourselves be swayed by the cooling Trade Winds. No decisions to make, no pressure, no stress & full privacy. We hired Angela who cooked a true bajan meal for us, we asked Winston to bring us fresh coconuts (used the water for our rum punches), relaxed, cooled off in the pool, went to the lookout & enjoyed the view. It is a dream home in a dream location. The property is clean , well maintained, spacious and fun to discover.. (is that a lime tree or orange?.. are those green monkeys??). In St.John (where this property is located) you get the real Barbados. Buy your fruits & vegetables from the locals (at local costs not tourist prices). Walk along the Atlantic ocean at Cattlewash, dine at the Cove, the Atlantis or do like the locals & go to the take away at Martins Bay for fantastic chicken & fish. We were never bored, there was so much to do. If you want to find the true bajan spirit , go to Rabbit Hill that is where it lives. The Girls March 11-21st ,2012

A little slice of Paradise
Okay, yes the swimming beaches are on the South and West side of the island and this house is on the East side of the island, but that's kinda the point. Having just gotten back from our stay at Rabbit Hill we could not believe our good fortune in having found such an incredible place. You are only 20 - 25 minutes from the best beaches on the island (we recommend Accra in the South and Mullins on The West side) and yet you are wonderfully far from the crowds, noise and craziness of the more populated areas. Sitting on the fantastic covered porch overlooking the Atlantic reading a book and drinking a rum punch while our daughters swam in the pool (that is within sight range for supervisory purposes) it was very difficult to even think about going anywhere. Beautiful breezes, absolutely gorgeous grounds overflowing with tropical flowers and fruit trees, helpful and friendly staff who are there when you need them and not when you don't, sometimes you just had to pinch yourself. Perfect for families with children, perfect for people who want someplace quiet and secluded where they can immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Barbados, frankly just pretty darn perfect.

If you think the property is beautiful in the website, you'll be blown away seeing it in person. It's absolutely beautiful. A real gem. The house was very comfortable. We felt very at home. There were beautiful fresh flowers in the house upon our arrival. The porch was our favorite spot. We began and ended each day there. At night the whistling frogs put us to sleep, and in the morning, the dove's cooing awakened us. We were fortunate to have our visit coincide with a full moon. Sitting by the pool and seeing the moon reflect on the Atlantic was just mesmerizing. We loved staying on the east side of Barbados. After the first day, we figured out that going out to lunch was a better option than going out to dinner, at least, until we learned the roads. My husband enjoyed the challenge of driving so every day we enjoyed touring all parts of the island. After about five days, we were able to navigate enough to return to the house after dark. We truly enjoyed coming back to the peace and serenity of Rabbit Hill after our daily outings. The solitude of the east side and Rabbit Hill was the highlight of our trip. I would recommend it to more independent-seeking travelers who are happier soaking up a lush, beautiful setting than watching tv.

Rabbit Hill Remarkable
Let me begin by saying that Rabbit Hill worked its magic -- one can only "relax" in the midst of such beauty. Set on five green and bountiful acres, Rabbit Hill looks out to the ocean. Besides well-kept lawns and flower beds there are all manner of fruit trees: limes, bananas, breadfruit and others. A lovely triangular swimming pool is privately situated in this garden. The house is large and full of light, but relatively cool during the day. The wide veranda at the front of the house was our favourite place to spend time with its comfortable furniture, hammocks and long dinning table. The house was spotless and welcoming. We arrived late and the manager, Agnes, had left the porch and veranda lights on for us and turned on the air conditioning. We are hoping to return to Barbados and Rabbit Hill. We are not particularly interested in the tourist scene, so to stay in a quiet residential area suits us fine. My husband made friends with the neighbour ladies and learned much about gardening in island soils. Also, we like space to spread out and privacy in which to enjoy it. Rabbit Hill provided all this with charm. I'm especially fond of the elegant master bedroom and unique en suite (from which I watched monkeys). Agnes and Winston the gardener were helpful, friendly and non-intrusive. Very nice people. I expect to read one day in the future that Agnes in the Minister of Finance for Barbados. She certainly has the drive and work ethic. We have been singing the praise of Rabbit Hill to our family and friends. We took quite a number of photos to substantiate our claims. I love the wild Atlantic and its shaping influence on the landscape. From the patio of the nearby historic Atlantis Hotel we watched Humpback whales feeding. We rented a car and for ranging trips we hired Winston II to drive. It was a great way to actually see and hear about the island without the stress of negotiating the roads. Winston is a good companion and well-informed. We went over the Highlands to the Mullins Bay area (to the Shell Gallery) and had lunch in one of Winston's favourite local eateries, and then on to St. Nicholas Abbey. Other day trips included Harrison Cave, Bridgetown, Animal Flower Caves, all of which allowed us to cross the island, travel up the west coast to the northern point and back down the east coast. For a short visit I think we did quite well, but just scratched the surface.

Charming Piece of Paradise
Rabbit Hill was exactly what we were looking for during our vacation in Barbados - quiet, stunning views, convenient to all parts of the island, and full of special touches that really make a vacation. The house and grounds are simply phenomenal. While difficult to identify our true favorite parts - we particularly enjoyed the pool, porch, and the fabulous fruit trees on the property. Having a two year old daughter, we greatly appreciated the convenience of the pool, but also appreciated that it was far enough away from the house for us not to have to worry about her accidentally falling in. We probably spent 75% of our time on the fabulous front porch with the two great hammocks. It has fantastic views and is so peaceful and charming! Despite being on the East coast, we felt the entire island was accessible from Rabbit Hill. While we rented a car, the good local bus service has a stop just outside the front gate of the property, so it would be convenient for those without a car too. By car, we were 5 minutes from Bath Beach, which was a fantastic site for the family - picnic tables, a snackette, and fresh water showers made this a great place to hang our for a day. The staff at Rabbit Hill were tremendously friendly and helpful. The property manager checked on us nearly every day and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed during our stay. The grounds manager was a true delight. He spent a little bit of time each morning talking to us, telling us things about the island or about the property. He even helped us harvest some coconuts, limes and breadfruit off the trees on the property - delicious! We would return to Rabbit Hill in a heartbeat, and hope to have a chance to do so soon!

Best Get Away
This is our second time to Rabbit Hill. We could not have imagined a better vacation. It was the perfect place for our family to vacation. We have a one year old and have done all inclusive with her in the past, but found this much more enjoyable. We loved the beaches, went to the wilderness reserve and just enjoyed the property in general. Turns out we did not go far to see Monkey's....often we would watch them on the property eating fruit out of the trees...so cute. The pool, property and house were just amazing. It was also nice when our daughter napped we were still able to enjoy the pool and property. Andre was extremely helpful with providing us with information and helping us coordinate the trip logistics. Winston and Agnes were very friendly and helpful. Thanks again for renting Rabbit Hill to us. Now we are just counting down the days to our next retreat there :)

We are a Canadian family who has owned and used this beautiful property for the past 20 years. Rabbit Hill in Barbados was always by far our children's favourite holiday destination.
The shared family memories serve them well now as young working adults with limited holidays and less time to visit the island. Over the past few years we have decided to rent our home selectively to others who appreciate tropical nature in all its glory.

Why they chose this property

Barbados is a beautiful island with lovely people we consider ourselves fortunate to have a property on the island where we have our privacy yet be only short distances from fun activities be it gorgeous beaches, golf, hiking, horse back riding, sailing ,dining or any number of other wonderful activities the island offers its tourists.

What makes this property unique

The constant breezes and surf sounds of the Atlantic Ocean are truly intoxicating!
Immediately outside of our drive way it's a hikers paradise with walking trails along the rugged Atlantic coast that an experienced hiker/renter commented are some of the most "photogenic walks" he had been on.
