About this property
Luxury family bell tent with pool, South West France
Camp La Mafresié is a luxury 6 metre bell tent in its own private site, deep in the Tarn countryside. Imagine, camping without anyone else around you! The site has fantastic views across a wild meadow that children will love to explore, and a short walk away is our 11-metre swimming pool with panoramic views of the countryside. This secluded valley is home to a wide variety of birds and deer can sometimes be seen enjoying an evening drink at the stream in the meadow. Night skies are clear of light pollution, perfect for stargazing. This really is a very tranquil place, a chance to get away from it all!
The tastefully furnished bell tent has a double and three single beds made up with crisp linens. There is solar lighting inside and games for children. Next to the tent is a charming outdoor kitchen, complete with bottle gas stove and utensils for cooking, and a wooden picnic table for dining. A barbeque and fridge are also available at the camping station, just a couple of minutes walk down the lane where there is also is a private bathroom. A sink for washing up has a lovely view over the meadow.
Me and my husband fell in love with an old farmhouse at La Mafresié 15 years ago. We have lovingly restored the house over the years, enjoying the peace and tranquillity of its location. Staying at Camp La Mafresié, we hope that you too will enjoy this very special place.
There are some lovely walks from the site. Further afield, the valleys of the Averyron and Viaur offer spectacular walking and bike hire and horse -riding are available nearby. A 10-minute drive away is the small town of Laguépie with its lovely river for wild swimming and bars and cafés along its banks. Kayaking is available nearby. The area is rich in culture with the stunning medieval town of Cordes-sur-Ciel just a 10 minutes drive, and the city of Albi with its spectacular cathedral just 40 minutes away. Albi is also home to the Toulouse Lautrec Museum, well worth a visit, and there are good shops and quality restaurants to enjoy in this historic city on the river Tarn. Every town in the area has its own market selling quality local produce and regional specialities. The Sunday market in picturesque St Antonin is a favourite. Situated in the spectacular gorge of the river Averyon, its medieval streets are overflowing with fantastic produce as well as good places to eat and drink.
