About this property

DOMUS! Historic Rome Palazzo: Modern Luxury, near Piazza Navona

The Space:
NEW! Domus Domitia is an enchanting blend of history and modernity awaiting lucky guests within the walls of this seventeenth-century Rome palace. In the heart of the historic center, overlooking the picturesque Vicolo Domizio, and nestled between Piazza Navona and the Vatican, Domus Domitia offers a unique experience.

As you step through the entrance, you will be greeted by the portal designed by the renowned Florentine architect Antonio Sangallo. Sangallo, who also contributed to Saint Peter’s project alongside Bramante, infuses the space with a warm connection to both history and contemporary architecture. The meticulous attention to detail throughout the house is priceless.

Every element of the residence mixes elegance and functionality, a rare combo. The thoughtful design prioritizes space, natural light, and comfort. Even the former palace warehouse on the lower level has been seamlessly integrated. Transparencies and reflections between the two residence levels create an ambiance that is nothing short of extraordinary.

Inside, an eclectic mix of contemporary art and traditional furniture spans different epochs. The deliberate contrast appeals to those who appreciate history within a modern, luxurious setting—an authentic Roman lifestyle experience.

The independent entrance ensures privacy despite the central location. The quiet lane adjacent to the famous antique Via dei Coronari adds to the charm. And within the palace, the total white aesthetic is punctuated by shades of green and plum in the sofas from the early twenties, creating a lively and inviting living room—a perfect spot for relaxation.

Throughout the house, modern art pieces carry a consistent theme. In the living room, the panel on the wall boldly declares “DOMUS DOMITIA,” drawing inspiration from the vibrant nightclubs of the 1980s.

Roman Archaeological Finds Enhance the Timeless Charm of This Luxury House.

In the first bedroom, your attention is drawn to an illuminated panel commissioned by a Russian artist. The letters, reminiscent of Majakowski, express freedom and are inspired by the soundtrack of Cinderella: “A dream is a wish your heart makes.”

The fabric lamps, with their futuristic flair, are the creative work of artist Paola Napoleone. From the master bedroom, you step into an intimate courtyard adorned with climbing plants. The highlight of this serene space is a Roman fountain, recovered during restoration excavations. An en suite bathroom completes the master suite.

The second bedroom exudes coziness, featuring a beautiful Toile de Jouy headboard in delicate shades of grey. Another en suite bathroom ensures comfort and convenience.

A Tranquil Haven for Wellness: Private Spa, Hammam, and Massage Area

Descend the crystal stairs to the right, and you’ll discover a dedicated wellness area. Comfortable armchairs, swathed in terry cloth, beckon for relaxation after indulging in the hammam or hydromassage spa tub.

Despite the well-defined spaces, the overall ambiance feels like a spacious loft. Adjacent to the wellness area, a generously sized dining room commands attention. An italicized sign on the wall, reminiscent of 1950s bar aesthetics, invites guests to savor their dining experience.

Enjoy a Courtyard Retreat After a Day of Exploration Step through an open passage to find a cozy study, complete with a comfortable sofa bed with real mattresses for accommodating two additional guests. The modern style is accentuated by plexiglass frames showcasing ancient designs from a 19th-century theatrical costume artist.

From this room, access a second courtyard—a serene spot for sipping drinks and unwinding outdoors. And fear not, for a dedicated butler is at your service, ensuring your stay in Rome is nothing short of delightful.

Culinary Inspiration and Personalized Service: Through double glass doors, you’ll enter the large, modern kitchen—functional and impeccably equipped. It’s an inspiring space for preparing delightful Mediterranean meals or exploring other culinary delights available at Rome’s typical fresh outdoor markets.

Our commitment to your comfort begins from the moment you arrive at the Airport. Arrange for our car service and we’ll whisk you directly to your “home.” Upon arrival, our trusted butler, “Jack,” will greet you with a welcome cocktail while the manager handles your check-in.
As you explore Rome and return to the house, Butler “Jack” will gladly offer you coffee, tea, or a refreshing glass of water. His attentive service extends until 8 PM, unless you request additional time.

The Neighborhood:
Domus Domitia is in a perfect location at the historic centre of Rome. It is a nearby stroll to both the Piazza Navona and the wonderful Campo di Fiori, Rome's famed fruit and vegetable market in the day (and open-air cocktail party by night). You will also find it an easy walk to Castello St. Angelo and St. Peter's, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, Trastevere, the Colosseum and more. If you are ambitious and want to study Italian while here, there is also a famous Italian language school, the Scuola Leonardo di Vinci in the nearby Piazza del Orologio.

Getting Around:
You can walk almost everywhere, but several taxi stations are a stroll away..
