Sheepfold Cottage is set in a stunning , atmospheric position, above the River Barle, approximately 2 miles from Dulverton, where you will find all that you need for your stay.
Red Deer can often be seen near by, along with a herd of Exmoor Ponies, with mares and foals in the field across the lane
Main Description
Sheepfold Cottage presents itself as a charming and bright cottage situated in a serene and picturesque setting overlooking the River Barle, merely 2 miles away from the quaint town of Dulverton.
Upon entering, guests are welcomed into the airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, full of character with lofty ceilings and exposed beams. The lounge area features two cosy sofas, one of which doubles as a sofa bed, along with a Smart TV/DVD for entertainment. A bookcase stocked with an array of reading materials and a selection of board games adds to the homely ambiance. There is a sofa bed available ( please advise of use at time of booking, you will need to provide bedding and towels for any extra guests)
The kitchen is well-equipped for culinary endeavours, boasting an electric oven and hob, combination microwave oven, fridge with ice compartment, and washing machine.
Moving further into the accommodation, a charming double bedroom awaits, complete with an ensuite bathroom featuring a shower over bath and WC. Additionally, a separate WC is provided for convenience.
Stepping through the French doors leads to a quaint enclosed private patio area with seating for two, perfect for enjoying a quiet moment outdoors.
Across the parking area, guests will discover a spacious shared garden ideal for dog exercise, furnished with garden furniture and offering delightful views, creating an ideal spot to unwind with a glass of wine.
The cottage is in the perfect location for Exmoor Dark Skies, and the Shops and pub are just 2.5 miles away.
Please note there is a 3 night minimum stay.
2 dogs welcome 3rd by prior arrangement.
There is the option of livery, a mile away, should anyone want to bring their horse/s, please contact us for more details.

Outdoor Description
There is a table and chairs on the private enclosed patio area, which enjoys full sun during the morning, great for breakfast or coffee. Across the gravelled parking area, at the front, you will find the large shared garden, with 2 picnic tables and a good sized area to run your dog.
You can stroll along the lane, in either direction and you may well see the Red Deer and Exmoor Ponies. The views along this lane, across the Barle Valley, are beautiful To the left will take you towards Dulverton a lovely town, with many character features and independent shops and a good variety of places to eat. To the right, takes you the 3.5 miles to Tarr Steps, where you will find the famous clapper bridge, crossing the River Barle and Tarr Farm Inn, which is great for lunch, afternoon tea or an evening meal. The walking from here, along the river, is stunning.

Sheepfold Cottage is set amongst a small group of cottages, with parking for 1 car immediately outside the cottage.
Unfortunately, there is no facility for charging an electric car.
Pets Description
The cottage would only be suitable for 3 small dogs or 2 large.
Restricted mobility
This has not been completed by the owner.
Exit in case of emergency
Exiting of this small single storey property would be either from the French Doors or the Front Door, which are both fitted with Thumb Locks for easy opening.
Christmas / New Year
A Christmas Tree will be waiting to welcome guests, along with other decorations with Mince Pies and clotted Cream.
The region
Sheepfold Cottage is within Exmoor National Park , situated above the River Barle, in a stunning location, within 30 minutes of Tiverton and South Molton and approximately 5 minutes by car to the pretty town of Dulverton and 15 minutes to Bampton . The M5 is approximately 40 minutes away.
The famous Tarr Steps is approximately 3 miles away , Winsford Hill, with no end of walking and breathtaking views is 10 minutes from the cottage and the pretty villages of Withypoole, Winsford and Exford all withing 20 minutes. You will find good places to eat at all these villages with Exford and Withypoole both having a Post Office and Village shop. The White Horse at Exford does an amazing Carvery on Sundays, all year round and the Tea Rooms at both Withypool and Winsford are very popular.
Dunkery Beacon is approximate 35 minutes away and on reaching the top, on a clear day, you will be rewarded by beautiful views across to Wales in one direction and Dartmoor, in the other.
