About this property
Lower Cottage, Newcastle Emlyn
Lower Cottage near Newcastle Emlyn, Carmarthenshire, occupies a spectacular position overlooking the valley where the Hiraeth stream runs on its journey to join the river Teifi. It is one of two stone cottages at Clyn Glas, 'Green Meadow', which used to be connected to the local woollen industry.
Cwmhiraeth is a 5 minute drive from Newcastle Emlyn, which offers a variety of shops, supermarket, cafes and pubs. The River Teifi which rises above Tregaron, in the Cambrian Mountains, flows through Newcastle Emlyn on its way to the sea at Cardigan (Aberteifi) a distance of over 70 miles.
The surrounding area is stunning and walks can be taken from the cottages. The sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay are only 20 minutes away offering safe bathing and surfing. Some beaches are also well suited to sea fishing. Dolphins and seals can be found off the coast and seal pups can often be seen at Cwm Tydu Cove and along the coast in the autumn. The Pembrokeshire Coastal path is also nearby and is very popular with walkers, as is the beautiful town of Newport, with its golf course and yachting club.
