My name is Anne and I am British. I have always had a love of France and the French and finally moved here in 2018. I live in the rest of the longhouse and will be there to greet you on your arrival. As I live next door to the gite, I am on-hand if you have any queries (where to visit, local restaurants etc) but will leave you in peace to enjoy your stay unless you wish otherwise! I am retired now after working in industry for most of my life and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside around me. The neighbours are all very friendly and welcoming. I hope you enjoy the area as much as I do.

Why they chose this property

The house is in a small, secluded valley with views across open countryside with wooded areas and country lanes. It isn't overlooked at all and the sense of calm and serenity, combined with all the interesting places to visit locally make this a very special place. I enjoy seeing the wild birds and other wildlife, deer, foxes, bats ... and find the tranquility of this spot very relaxing and stress-free.

What makes this property unique

I think the situation of the house and garden make this a quite unique spot. Not overlooked, very little, if any, traffic. The house is at the bottom of a lane that goes nowhere. The farmers use it for access to their fields and the postman comes down the lane. The only other traffic tends to be when people get lost and take a wrong turning! The house is south facing and in the summer the sun shines on the stone walls making it quite a sun-trap. The garden is quite large and has a few different aspects to enjoy. It is also a great place for children to play. The location, Lonlay L'Abbaye has a medieval church - once an abbey as the name suggests, is convenient for touring the area and there are many beautiful sights to see. Mont St Michel, St Malo, Bagnols de l'Orne, the Beaches, Bayeux, as well as more local beauty spots. La Longere is very close to the Pilgrims Path to Mont St Michel, the GR22 and our nearest neighbour is a micro-brewery!
