Summary:
If you’re looking for a peaceful family staycation, Appleton House provides a comfortable and homely place to stay in the heart of the market town of Newark-on-Trent. Sleeping up to 7 guests, this beautifully restored Victorian townhouse boasts free WiFi & is just a short distance to Newark Northgate station on the East Coast mainline. You’ll have access to the full house which benefits from a large dining area, fully equipped kitchen, 4 bedrooms, family bathroom & shower room, and a courtyard.
The Space:
Upon entering Appleton House, guests are greeted by a spacious dining area which can comfortably seat 8. This leads onto a cosy living area complete with sofas and smart TV, followed by a stylish kitchen which is well equipped with cooking facilities and a handy dishwasher and washing machine.
The back door opens out onto a private courtyard garden with bistro table and chairs; the perfect place to enjoy a coffee on a sunny morning.
Three spacious bedrooms are split across the first and second floors and have been designed with flexibility in mind. Organised as either double or twin rooms, guests can enjoy a luxurious super king-sized bed or separate single beds. A pull-out trundle bed in bedroom four can accommodate a further two guests if required.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to Appleton House are accessed via a key safe box and full details will be provided prior to check in.
A parking permit is provided, allowing for free on-street parking nearby on a first come, first served basis. Additional permits can be requested prior to check in.
The Neighborhood:
You’ll find a wealth of amenities on the doorstep when staying at Appleton House, including restaurants, pubs, shops and a traditional market.
Local attractions include the iconic Newark Castle, National Civil War Centre, Newark Showground, Palace Theatre and Odeon Cinema.
The town and riverside provide some lovely walks and historic trails where you can discover more about the rich history of Newark. From May to September, you can also enjoy a relaxing cruise up the River Trent on the HMS Sonning.
Various sporting facilities are also available including The YMCA with Olympic-sized climbing wall, Newark Golf Club and Southwell Racecourse.
Getting Around:
Newark Northgate train station on the East Coast Mainline is at the end of the street, whilst Newark Castle Train Station for Nottingham and Lincoln is a 15-minute walk away.
Newark-on-Trent has great bus routes to surrounding areas including Grantham, Mansfield, Lincoln and Nottingham.
The nearest airport is East Midlands Airport, 32 miles away from Newark-on-Trent.
