About this property

Charming Lake Weslemkoon Retreat

This is a charming water access seasonal cottage ( May-October, boat access only from marina, you cannot drive here, no boat provided, bring own or use water taxi from marina) located in the middle of beautiful Canadian Shield landscape. It is located near the end of West Bay on gorgeous Lake Weslemkoon and faces west so you can enjoy truly spectacular sunsets from the deck. The property is quite private, with the Owners own cottage next door but not visible and a quiet family cottage on the other side of a small bay. This is a boat-in wilderness cottage built in the 1970's by the previous owner with natural forest and wonderful deep lake swimming from the dock. Best for a couple or small family. Children are welcome and our kids love it but it may not be suitable for very small children. Well behaved pets are also most welcome. Parking and a water taxi service are available for additional fees through Weslemkoon Marina. The rear of the property backs onto great hiking trails to uninhabited lakes. Enjoy the rustic charm of a traditional cottage with a beautiful pine interior where selective updates have been done in keeping with the spirit of old school cottaging. There is a large new deck overlooking the lake and a cozy wood stove for chilly evenings. There is a small bathroom with a sink, toilet and a shower (with hot water). The original kitchen is in place with expanded counters and a new refrigerator but no dishwasher. The large lake and open bay out front are great for water sports. There is a TV for movies, traditional board games and lots of books for reading. There are 3 bedrooms, one with a double brass bed, and 2 other en suite bedrooms that are connected and open to each other - one with a single twin bed and one with 2 twin beds. There is a large swim dock with great deep water swimming (but may not be suitable for very small children) and a small dock suitable for mooring of a boat if you want bring your own. Of course the autumns are beautiful with great colours and few bugs! Please also note that the cottage is self-catering with guests responsible for cleaning.

Beautiful Location

Had a great time! Picturesque location. The big deck by the cottage and the deck on the water both really add to the place. Very nice and helpful owners!

Fabulous!

The lake is pristine, the cottage is well-equipped, private and in a lovely location with westerly sunset views and a wide-open vista to the uninhabited shore across the bay. Beautiful! - exactly as advertised. Patty and family are fabulous hosts and were prompt to reply to any questions we had while planning our trip, as well as very gracious and welcoming once we arrived. Thanks Patty! The marina is perfect too! Great boat launch - slick and easy to use with plenty of elbow room and a friendly, welcoming couple running the store. Can’t say enough good things about our 10-day stay!

Weslemkoon at its best

Our stay was amazing. Cottage was exactly as advertised, with everything needed for a problem free stay. Owners were extremely pleasant and were willing to do anything to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Couldn't have asked for more. We will definitely be back again!

Wonderful getaway

This cottage is just as advertised, a charming retreat on Weslemkoon Lake. A beautiful cottage with a great deck overlooking the lake to enjoy morning coffee and an afternoon cocktail. Patricia was a great hostess checking in on us to provide info about the cottage and also about the short hiking trail that leads to another lake. This retreat was quiet and had all the amenities to make our stay comfortable. There was a propane bbq and also a charcoal grill which provided a nice alternative. It was great to find a dog friendly rental, our lab had a blast swimming all week. Hope to return again!

Weslemkoon lake

Myself and my two teenage sons had a fabulous time at the cottage, weslemkoon lake is so beautiful, great fishing and awesome places to swim. The boys particularly liked the rope swing! I was surprised at how little boat traffic there is on this lake, the cottage was clean and comfortable. Exactly what we were looking for. Hope to return again soon. Thanks Bob and Patrica.

About the host

Host profile image
This is a family cottage that we use for guests and the occasional rental. We also own and stay in the cottage next door and are generally available should you need anything. We have 2 girls (ages 18 and 23) 1 dog and a cat.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the lake after renting here and purchased our cottage several years ago. We often found it hard to find nice cottages tor rent that would also accept pets so we are happy to have well behaved pets stay here.

What makes this property unique

This is a beautiful, quiet site with a very charming, traditional cottage that feels like a step back in time. We love that it is fairly remote, with great hiking and swimming. The sunsets over the bay are truly spectacular.
