About this property

Glanyrafon Smithy, New Quay

This pretty cottage in the heart of Ceredigion, near New Quay oozes character and provides a cosy base for a family holiday in West Wales. It is in a prime position in the centre of a pretty village and perfectly positioned for exploring the villages, market towns and scenery of the Cardigan Bay coastline with its fabulous beaches.

It's just 7 miles to New Quay, which offers boat trips, an array of shops and a chance to see bottlenose dolphins who visit regularly. Also, nearby is the Ceredigion Coast Path which is ideal for bird watching. Along the path you can explore sandy beaches such as Llangrannog, Tresaith, Aberporth and Mwnt.

The harbour town of Aberaeron is very colourful and is a 15 minute drive with restaurants, cafés and shops. Explore the beautiful National Trust beach at Penbryn and the small cove of Cwmtydu where in late summer it is possible to see grey seals and their pups.

Characterful and cosy cottage

We really enjoyed our 3 nights at The Smithy. It’s very spacious and cosy and well equipped. Good points: Cosy, spacious, warm, great internet, good kitchen, dishwasher, nice log fire, excellent pub across the road. Not so great points: Desperately needs some TLC, back door doesn’t lock so not the best security although it’s not a risk in this area, curtains are poor so we were awake quite early, kitchen utensils need upgrading. On the whole we would recommend but it could be so much better with some TLC.
