Unique waterfront private tower in Positano

At the edge of Positano on the Almafi Coast, La Fortezza is a historical building dated back from 13th century by the Normans. It was brought back to life in 1909 and now provides accommodation for 13 people with stunning views of Positano and the sea. The villa is not accessible by car and is surrounded by Mediterranean nature with plants and insects.

La Fortezza is a pentagonal building divided into four areas all linked together via pathways, passages and corridors. You will arrive at La Fortezza by water taxi directly from the main beach (5 minutes crossing) or on foot from the beach at Fornillo and taking the staircase to the private entrance gate and path (about 15 minute walk). There are three main terraces leading to the beach via a narrow staircase.

The Tower
Lower level you will find a modern kitchen equipped with four gas burner stove, a fridge, a separate freezer and a dishwasher.

First level: There is a double room (beds can be separated if required) with a window overlooking the sea and an en-suite bathroom (bathtub) with a window overlooking Positano.

Second level: You will find a living room with sofas and coffee table with fireplace TV, CD and DVD player with a small fridge. There is a single room on this level with en-suite shower room with access to a little balcony overlooking the sea and the islands of I Galli. This room does not have air conditioning.

Third level: Stairs lead up to an air conditioned double room (queen bed) with en-suite bathroom with twin sink and bathtub. An internal staircase leads on the roof terrace offering a 360 view over the sea and the coast.

A balcony encircles La Fortezza on three sides and includes a south-facing open terrace. Air conditioning in two bedrooms and in the living room.

The Mermaid
First level: In this part of La Fortezza there is a double room (which can be split into two single beds) with west facing windows. A small corridor leads to the bathroom with bathtub and shower.

Second level: A single room with a ceiling in a diamond shape ceiling with views of Positano, a satellite TV and a bathroom with shower unit.

Third level: you will find a living/dining room with couches and dining table and chairs with a satellite TV, CD/DVD player. A kitchen area is also on this level with four gas burners, microwave, fridge, separate freezer, small electric grill and a double sink with granite counter.

Air conditioning available in the two bedrooms and in the living room.

The Mermaid offers a terrace with views of the Isole dei Galli and the Almafi coast. An outdoor dining table and chairs for 8 is available as well as a BBQ.

The Clavel
Lower level: You will find a dining terrace with large wood table large enough to sit 12 people to enjoy al-fresco lunch or dinner. The view from the terrace is of Positano. There is also a sitting room with couches for six people, CD and music player. French doors are opening to the dining terrace and a small corridor will lead you to the main equipped kitchen (5 gas burners, oven, large fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. There is a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

The secret room
This floor also features an apartment of its own with separate access and on the first level you will find a double room (beds can be split) and a private terrace. Another single room is on this level with access to the terrace. Both rooms share one bathroom (bathtub and shower) and twin sink.

Another double room is available with en-suite shower (beds can be separated). All three bedrooms have air conditioning.

There is a separate guest WC on this level and another one located outside the house near the stairs leading to the beach.

On an upper terrace there is a fitness area with weights equipment. Fans can be provided for all bedrooms.

Facilities: Wi-Fi internet connection (in 75% of the house), gas burners, ovens, fridges, microwaves, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, CD/DVD player, satellite TVs, fitness area, air conditioning except in a single room, fans on request and hairdryers. Parking can be found in Positano public car park.

Due to its location and various hazardous corridors, staircases and walkways the property is not recommended for family with very young children (unless supervised) or anyone with walking difficulty.

FULL TIME RESIDENT CONCIERGE/PROPERTY MANAGER
An English-speaking person will meet our guests on the arrival day and help them to settle in. He will be available during the entire stay.
Prior arrival he will be also available to arrange tours, excursions and other services such as advance or daily grocery shopping.
The housekeeper has a private apartment located on a lower level with private entrance so not to interfere with the privacy of the guests.
