About this property

Old Farm East Orielton, Holiday Cottage East Orielton, Nr Bosherston, Sleeps 8, 4 bedrooms, bathrooms

Old Farm East Orielton is a wonderfully spacious holiday home with your own large enclosed lawned rear garden, once the original farmhouse it is set overlooking a square communal lawn with a cluster of cottages converted from original farm buildings. Nestling in the rural hamlet of Orielton, it has mature woodland to the rear and rolling countryside, yet is only a few minutes’ drive from some of Pembrokeshire’s finest beaches and less than 10 minutes' from the bustling historical town of Pembroke with its magnificent medieval Castle and Mill Pond.Old Farm has been beautifully renovated throughout in muted earthy Farrow and Ball tones with bright splashes of colour, furnished to a high standard in an eclectic mix of modern and antique pieces, many of which have been upcycled. It is truly a place to relax with its peaceful setting, it offers a high level of comfort with quality linen, luxury mattresses and large corner sofas. The stately proportions, high ceilings and large windows ensure a light and airy feeling. The glazed porch gives ample space for all your outdoor gear, step into the dining room with its farmhouse style table, perfect for leisurely family meals. The modern fitted kitchen is well-equipped and leads through to a large TV room giving plenty of space to relax. There is a second quiet sitting room with feature fireplace for grown-ups wanting to escape. Stairs lead from the dining room to the first floor with its long landing adding to the feeling of space. The 2 super king bedrooms, one with ensuite bathroom are incredibly spacious, one of these has a full size double sofa bed which when made up easily accommodates 2 children increasing the party size to 10, while there is a smaller king size and twin bedroom and family bathroom.  All offer views over the communal green or the gardens and woodlands to the rear.Your own large enclosed, walled lawned grounds to the rear seem to wrap around the house, and are a wonderful tranquil spot with mature shrubs and pretty flowers, accessed from the kitchen there is a gravel terrace where you can dine alfresco on a summer’s day overlooking the lawns and woodland beyond or there is a further paved terrace with steps down to the lawn from the TV lounge. There is ample space for children to play.  Enjoy a slower pace to life, listen to the birdsong while you relax, the bird and wildlife will astound, while the dark skies will amaze, the stars overhead can be simply stunning.Set in the heart of the Pembrokeshire countryside, footpaths, bridleways and quiet lanes abound. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is only 3 miles away and links you to an array of fabulous beaches all within a 5-minute drive.  Beautiful Barafundle Beach can only be accessed via the Coastal Path or walk around the Lily Ponds from Bosherston to Broad Haven South Beach, while the long stretch of sand at Freshwater West is popular with surfers and was the setting for the blockbuster films, Robin Hood and Harry Potter. The tiny 6th Century Chapel of St Govans clinging to the cliffs should not be missed or the Green Bridge of Wales, both are accessed through the Castlemartin military firing range, which covers 6000 acres within the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park.  While it is sometimes used for military training, there is seasonal opening of footpaths which gives access to less frequented sections of the Coastal Path. Good food can be enjoyed at some award-winning restaurants including nearby Paternoster Farm, The Stackpole Inn, and The Old Point House, as well as local village pubs including St Govans Inn at Bosherston and the Speculation Inn; while The Boathouse Tea-room at Stackpole Quay is popular, keen Paddle boarders and kayakers will enjoy setting out from here to explore the coast. The medieval town of Pembroke, birthplace of Henry VII, dominated by its magnificent Castle and Mill Pond, is only 10 minutes' drive away and offers a range of facilities and is well worth a visit.Old Farm is a wonderful holiday home perfect for families and friends to get together whatever the time of year. Please note that this property is set in a unique location over 2 ½ miles away from Castlemartin military firing range. The range covers an area of 2400 hectares on the South Pembrokeshire coast within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The Castlemartin military range closes for the month of August and there are guided walks available during August on the scenic coastal area that covers the military range.Castlemartin has the highest concentration of seabirds on the Pembrokeshire mainland, including guillemots, razorbills and kittiwakes.  Most important of all, it provides an ideal habitat for the nationally-rare chough. The coastal heath and unimproved grassland also supports birds such as wheatears, skylarks, meadow pipits and stonechats. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path, a National Trail, crosses Range East (during non-firing periods) and inland along 8 km of roads past Range West. When firing is in progress the road diversion through Bosherston provides a longer walk. Vehicle access is available to Stack Rocks and St Govan’s Chapel. Both of these are popular with sightseers, climbers and fishermen. The sea cliffs provide some of the best cliff climbing in the UK.  Firing in July - no firing from 4.40pm on 12th July to 31st July (awaiting times for August and beyond) but generally no firing from 4.30pm on Friday to 7.30am on Monday.Double sofa bed available upon request for an extra £150.00 suitable for an additional child.  Call us on 01437 765765 for further details. £150.00 Bond required.
