The Old Cheesehouse, Beaminster. Large, comfortable house in rural West Dorset.
The Old Cheesehouse is surrounded by beautiful countryside, fabulous views and amazing walks. Deceptively spacious the house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, a large kitchen-dining room, a mezzanine work space and a super space for pets to dry off or snooze quietly with underfloor heating. The stream through the garden is mesmerizing from the bridge, and walks for miles around right from the door. Located at the end of a no through country lane, yet in easy walking distance of the town.
Located at the end of a no through country lane, with only one other property beyond. Rural location with wonderful views. The town and all its amenities are just an easy mile walk.
Spacious accommodation set over three levels ensures guests have plenty of privacy, as all three bedrooms are on different floors.
Accommodation includes:
Ground Floor
- Entrance lobby - with space for boots/shoes and coats.
- Inner lobby with stairs to first and lower ground floor.
- Bedroom 3 - two single beds. The window has a wooden venetian blind; great for privacy during the day and black out at night.
Lower Ground Floor
- Sitting area ideal for reading, working, play room or pet area.
- Shower room for bedroom 3. WC, wash hand basin and shower cubicle.
- Bedroom 2. Two single beds (which could be made in to a double), double aspect with double blinds; one is sheer for daytime privacy, the other for blackout at night.
- En-suite for bedroom 2. WC, wash hand basin, bath, and shower over.
- Large open-plan kitchen and dining room.
The kitchen is well equipped with 4 ring induction hob, electric oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, and dishwasher. There are plenty of pans, dishes, knives and other utensils together with crockery, cutlery, placemats, jugs and vases to make mealtimes a visual pleasure.
The dining area is double aspect with large picture windows, wonderful views and double French doors to the garden.
Glazed double doors lead to;
- Sitting room - vaulted and beamed ceiling, picture window with seat and views across the countryside, plenty of games available, Smart TV with Netflix and Prime included.
First Floor
- Stairs up to landing/storage area with door to;
- Mezzanine area overlooking the sitting room. Ideal reading or working area.
- Master bedroom with superking size bed, large picture window to enjoy the lovely views from bed.
Double aspect looking East and West. The curtains are lined in black out to help ease you into sunrise.
- Master en-suite with WC, wash hand basin, bath, and separate shower cubicle. Wooden venetian blind to provide privacy.
Outside
- There is a parking area to the front of the property for up to 3 cars.
- There is an enclosed garden to the rear, which is terraced on various levels.
- There is a stream and a bridge which is fenced and gated for safety.
- The garden is south-east facing and backs on to farmland.
General Information
The heating and hot water is provided from the Rayburn. It provides heat for the radiators in all carpeted rooms and under floor heating for the remaining rooms. By request the Rayburn can provide cooking in winter time (in addition to the electric oven).
The water is spring fed, filtered and softened, providing beautiful drinking water.
Dogs are permitted. There is a charge of £20 per dog per stay
We welcome dogs (maximum of 2) but please do not bring any other pets (eg cats, fish, reptiles, hamsters, rabbits etc). Thank you!
Guests have exclusive access to the entire house, garden and parking area. There are footpaths right from the door with access to lots of very beautiful West Dorset countryside.
Beaminster is a lovely small town with all amenities: Post Office, pharmacy, Co-op, bookshop, grocery, butcher, baker, delicatessen, gift shop, restaurants and cafes.
Bridport and West Bay are only 20 minutes away with the Bridport market on Wednesdays and Sundays, and boat trips from West Bay. Plenty of beaches to explore along the Jurassic Coast. Lyme Regis is about 40 minutes drive.
The nearest train station is in Crewkerne 15 minutes away - we can help you organise a taxi.
There is so much to do in the local area, from fossil hunting to donkey walking to boat trips to hiking, and Dorset is well-known for its wonderful food and restaurants - there are lots of flyers in The Old Cheesehouse to help you make the most of your trip. We hope to see you soon!
