About this property
4 bedroom antique palace apartment
Ca' Salvioni is a proper Venetian palazzo which can serve as an ideal home base during your stay in Venice. It is located in the heart of the Castello district, a friendly and lively neighbourhood which is just a short walk to St. Mark’s Square, the Arsenale and the Venice Biennale.
Ca' Salvioni was built in the 1500s by the Cubli, a wealthy family of Greek merchants. The architecture is attributed to the prominent Venetian architect Jacopo Sansovino, a follower of Michelangelo. During the 17th century the palazzo passed to the Salvioni family, who embellished it with beautiful stucco work and paintings that have survived for your enjoyment today.
Ca' Salvioni has been restored by the current owners with the greatest care to preserve its antiquities while enhancing your comfort with all modern conveniences.
The Noble Floor apartment (3,000 sq. feet) is located on the first floor of the palazzo, which can be entered from the Salizada dei Greci or from the Rio della Pietà, a lovely Venetian “water street” for those arriving by water taxi.
The impressive grand salon is distinguished by its frescoed 18-foot ceiling, oriental carpets, original paintings, antiques and Venetian chandeliers. Charming terraces grace each end of the room, one overlooking the canal and the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, and the other overlooking the private garden of the palazzo. The room somehow manages to be not only sumptuous and quintessentially Venetian, but also extremely comfortable. Doors from this central room lead to each of the other rooms: a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom with tub and shower; a second twin-bedded room (which can also be arranged as a double room) and a bathroom with shower just across the hall; a stunning library room with plenty of books, digital TV and internet connection; an amazingly fully equipped eat-in modern kitchen.
The mezzanine level up one flight offers a spacious double bedroom, bathroom with shower and small single room, accessed through the double room. Amenities include air conditioning in the mezzanine level and in both bedrooms on the main level.
Other interesting monuments in the vicinity include the Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni, with its Renaissance fresco cycle by Carpaccio illustrating the lives of the patron saints of Dalmatia, and the art-filled churches of San Giovanni in Bragora, Santi Giovanni e Paolo and San Zaccaria.
