Spyglass Cottage dates back around 300 years, starting life as a farm building. This delightful, period property, has been completely re-imagined and refurbished by the current owners to provide luxury accommodation for up to three guests; creating an open plan living dining space with inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove, a modern kitchen with breakfast area, downstairs shower room, two bedrooms upstairs exposing the original oak beams and a charming en suite shower room to the principal bedroom. Outside are two fabulous gardens, immediately outside the cottage is the cottage garden with BBQ patio and garden furniture and up the steps is the elevated top garden with breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline, a bench to relax with a coffee and breathe it all in and a summer house to get settled for a day of spying on the wildlife and soaking up the view.
Tucked away behind the coast road, Spyglass is one of three cottages sitting in prime position opposite the beach road in Cley. Still walking distance to the pubs, shops and everything the village has to offer, Spyglass is in a peaceful spot where you can enjoy the stunning and ever changing view to the coast, away from the madding crowd. The main open plan living space has a large comfy sofa, armchair, window seat, dining table for four and gorgeous hand made curtains. There is an inglenook fireplace with original bressummer beam and wood burning stove, smart TV with Sonos sound bar and an array of books to choose from, if you want just relax with a classic read.
The newly fitted kitchen has a ceramic hob and fan assisted oven below, fridge freezer, dishwasher, De Longhi bean to cup coffee machine and everything you need to create delicious food on the days you are not out at one of the nearby pubs or restaurants. Off the kitchen is the downstairs shower room, wet room floor with shower curtain, WC and wash hand basin.
Upstairs are two bedrooms. The principal bedroom has a king size bed with Emma mattress, bedside tables, tall boy chest of drawers and blanket box with a window looking out over the garden; the original beams are exposed in the ceiling and there is a decorative fireplace. The en suite to the principal bedroom has a mains pressure shower, with rainfall shower head, WC and wash hand basin. Bedroom two has a Feather & Black full size single day bed, bedside table, small tall boy set of drawers and window looking out to the side of the cottage.
Guests at Spyglass can expect a basket of treats to welcome them to the cottage, alongside basics like tea, coffee, sugar and spices. The cottage supplies guest robes & slippers and complimentary toiletries as an extra touch of luxury.
Outside
There is unrestricted parking on the raised track to the front of the cottages, immediately adjacent to the coast road and opposite the beach road. The bus stop for the Coast Hopper bus is also just outside the gate, so no need to take the car at all if you want to explore all the coast has to offer!
There is a small area of pathway between the door of the cottage and the private gardens. The 'bottom' garden is bordered by traditional willow fencing and original stone walling. This is a pretty cottage style garden with planting in the deep borders and on the bank that separates the two gardens. There is a paved BBQ patio with built in charcoal BBQ and garden furniture and pretty views out over the Saltmarsh. Broad steps lead up to the 'top' garden.
The 'top' garden is a more wild space with hedging and ferns on the steep bank behind. A long garden bench sits at the top of the steps, a stunning spot to sit and drink in the view to the coast. The Summer House is set a little higher in the garden and undoubtedly has the best views in the house. There is a fridge, kettle, sofa, bistro table & chairs and all you need to get settled and let the ever changing views envelope you whilst you relax.
