About this property
The Coach House - Norfolk
Nested in the picturesque village of Oxborough, this welcoming and sympathetically renovated coach house is in the perfect location for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting. It is part of The Old Rectory Estate with eighteen acres to explore. The magnificent Oxburgh Hall is on your doorstep with its medieval manor house and Victorian garden. The market town of Swaffham is 8 miles away and the Royal Sandringham Estate is 20 miles away. For guests who love wildlife, Welney Wetland Centre is 16 miles away, or visit the Watatunga Wildlife Reserve (12 miles) and experience a Norfolk safari where animals roam free among 170 acres of countryside. For those looking for a day at the beach, Hunstanton is 31 miles away and makes for a great day out with traditional arcades, beautiful esplanade gardens, boat trips to see seals, the Sea Life Centre and more.
Within a pretty courtyard is the former coach house which has been lovingly restored to provide accommodation for up to 7 guests. The main access from ground level takes you straight up stairs into the open-plan kitchen/dining/living area. The spacious lounge with its exposed beams and squashy sofas is perfect for curling up with a good book in the evening with a glass of something lovely. The well-equipped social kitchen is ideal for cooking up a treat to be enjoyed at the dining table together whilst discussing plans for the days ahead. The first bedroom with double bed has an en-suite with a bath to soak away the everyday stresses. The second bedroom is accessed via the first and also has a double bed. There is another room off this which offers a single bed and shower cubicle, wash basin and WC. Accessed from the courtyard at ground level is another bedroom which is semi-self-contained with king-size bed, sitting area with smart TV, facilities to make tea and coffee in the morning and an en-suite shower room.
Guests can explore the eighteen acre estate which is elevated and looks down upon its own fields, river and lake. A rowing boat can be used on the lake, and there’s a shady picnic table for guests to sit, relax and appreciate the views. Take a walk or bike ride around the grounds and you’ll find plenty of wildlife, maybe you’ll be lucky enough to see the Oyster Catchers nesting. You can feed the animals including sheep, geese, chickens and pig with the owners and there’s a ruin of the original Oxborough village church (dating back to the year 946) which guests are welcome to visit. There’s also a shared gym for guests that are keen to keep fit on their holiday.
