Restful Retreat
Turning into the drive, we were met with daffodils, sheep and lambs - calm, relaxing. Then, entering the cottage we were met with fresh scones and a lovely welcome hamper. After a day out exploring we enjoyed sitting by the log burner with a glass of wine. There are easy walks from the door, convenient for quality shops in Harrogate with many historic sites nearby. Andy and Sue were excellent hosts, keen to ensure we had everything we needed. Will hopefully return on future visits from Canada.

A stay in Yates Cottage
A well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Greeted with a welcome hamper full of Yorkshire treats and a tasty homemade cake. We didn’t meet the owners as they were away but their son was at hand and we also received an email to check in on us which I was a nice touch. A peaceful place to holiday and thoughtfully kitted out, it was like home from home.

Practically perfect
We loved our week at the cottage, and no doubt would still have loved it had the weather - surprisingly and delightfully - not also been perfect. Everything as described, Andy & Sue were welcoming hosts, and the location enables so many options. We brought our road bikes with us and found some hugely enjoyable rides. Andy & Sue gave us helpful advice and provided locked storage for our bikes. We hope to be back!

Fantastic Cottage, could not have asked for more!
The Cottage is in a beautiful location, the owners are very helpful, generous and friendly. There wasn't anything missing from the cottage including a delicious hamper on arrival. I could not recommend it enough. We had such an enjoyable time and it would not have been so, without the owners help. Will definately be making a return visit.

Wonderful stay at Yates Cottage
I can only echo what all the other 5 star reviews say! Having had to postpone our trip to Croatia, we decided to sample the delights of the Yorkshire Dales and we weren't disappointed. The cottage itself is beautiful and furnished to a high standard with everything you could possibly need, and it's spotlessly clean. The location is stunning and perfect to get away from it all. We had great trips out to Brimham Rocks, Fewston and Swinsty Reservoirs, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens, and Stockeld Park, plus a visit to Betty's and Valley Gardens in Harrogate. Can thoroughly recommend Mackenzie's Smokehouse (5 mins drive) for lunch and/or groceries. We had delicious pies from both butchers in Pateley Bridge. But what makes Yates Cottage so special are the hosts, Andy and Sue and their lovely family. We felt so welcomed and nothing was too much for them. It really did feel like we were being hosted by friends. The icing on the cake was that our 9 year old son was invited to walk Andy and Sue's beautiful spaniels and I know this has created memories for him he will never forget! We can't wait to return. Thank you the Murtagh family!

Relaxing retreat.
Lovely , peaceful ,relaxing, I could go on and on. A beautiful cottage in a peaceful setting. Friendly owners, there to help if needed but respectful of your privacy. Everything you need is there, fantastic welcome hamper. Beautiful area to sit outside and watch all the wildlife. All in all, one of the best cottages we have stayed in and we have been doing cottage holidays for nearly thirty years.

Home from home
Yates cottage is a fantastic base from which to explore Yorkshire. You can access many popular tourist locations, it is also a good base for cycling and walking enthusiasts. The land and pool adjoining the cottage attract a wide range of birds, and the scenery is delightful. Everything for your self catering holiday is close to hand in this beautifully appointed cottage. Owners Sue and Andy were so welcoming and friendly, they truly make you feel relaxed and comfortable. We were greeted on our arrival with a very thoughtful hamper of local goodies and a delicious home make cake, none of which went to waste! I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage.

GREAT BREAK IN YORKSHIRE
Yates Cottage is in a grand location situated in the Yorkshire Dales far from the maddening crowd. Sue and Andy Murtagh are the complete hosts and looking after their visitors is their top priority. The cottage is beautiful, tastefully furnished and providing all the kitchen equipment that one could wish for. Thank you so much to Sue and Andy. We will return.

First class property in a beautiful location.
Yates cottage is situated in a remote but beautiful location. First impressions were very favourable and it did not disappoint. We spent ten days there and loved every moment of it. the accommodation was spotless and very comfortable. The facilities were excellent and we wanted for nothing. Andy and Sue (the owners) had provided a super hamper of lovely food, which as much as we tried to resist on calorie counting grounds we failed miserably and ate most of it! They also called in several time just to make sure that we were totally comfortable and were keen to make sure that were enjoying our holiday. We have stayed in many cottages over the years and the is the best by far for comfort and location.
