About this property
Gwawrfryn, St Dogmaels
Just 5 minutes drive from beautiful Poppit Sands beach, Gwarwfryn in St Dogmaels offers outstanding views from every window across Welsh countryside to the Teifi Estuary. This renovated Pembrokeshire cottage is a great place to explore the area in all seasons, and have a peaceful break relaxing in its roll top bath, enjoying al fresco life on the patio, or snuggling by the roaring log fire.
St Dogmaels has two friendly pubs within walking distance, a post office, convenience store and art gallery. Enjoy an evening out at the nearby Ferry Inn with its lovely views of the estuary, or try some of the excellent restaurants in the local area, such as the Teifi Waterside Hotel. There are 12th-century abbey ruins, the working Y Felin watermill, and the Coach House art and Heritage Centre with cafe gallery and museum. The award-winning local producers' market every Tuesday morning is a must.
Just across the river, Cardigan historic market town has a variety of independent shops, cafes, restaurants, the Theatr Mwldan, and a recently renovated castle. You can take a boat trip with Dai the Crab from Cardigan jetty, or go further afield to Cilgerran Castle and the Iron Age living history village at Castell Henllys.
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path begins at Poppit Sands, alternatively head east on the Ceredigion Coast Path. Mwnt beach is ideal for spotting seals and dolphins, or, if you enjoy a challenge, Adventure Beyond is an outdoor activity company that can provide a variety of watersports as well as bushcraft skills. The Preseli Hills and Pembrokeshire National Park are only a 20-minute drive away.
