Summary:
Located on the outskirts of the beautiful Lake District National Park. Relax with the whole family or a group of friends at this peaceful place to stay. Full of character and charm our place is great for a getting back to nature, an outdoor adventure or a family staycation for up to six. This place is perfect for exploring the historic towns and villages close by or adventuring to admire the amazing views the fantastic Lake District has to offer!
The Neighborhood:
Fletchertown is a small village to the North of the Lake District National Park, made up of a few rows of what were miners’ cottages who worked at the local coal mine. The abandoned mine and its spoil remain known locally as ‘Pit Bank’. From here, you can discover the beauty of the National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The nearby market town of Wigton (6 miles) and the pretty village of Calbeck (10 miles) both have some great places to eat and drink, or you can head west to spend a day by the sea at Maryport (12 miles) and Allonby (10 miles). The edge of the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is to the north (7 miles), offering miles of breathtaking walks. Going south into the Lake District, you can explore Bassenthwaite Lake (9 miles) and visit attractions including the Lake District Wildlife Park (9 miles), the Lakes Distillery (9.5 miles) and Mirehouse and Gardens (12 miles)
Getting Around:
The nearest bus stop to the property is on the A595 in Mealsgate.
The nearest train station is Aspatria or Wigton.
We have local numbers for taxis in the guest guide once booked.
