About this property

Host & Stay | Farthings

Summary:
Farthings is located in the heart of Whitby, just a short walk from the centre of town. This homely two-bedroom detached chalet bungalow, situated in a quiet cul-de-sac of four bungalows, sleeps up to four guests across one king and one twin bedroom. The property is within sight and sound of the heritage North Yorkshire Moors Railway and benefits from parking for up to two vehicles. If you are looking for the perfect place for a couples retreat or family getaway then Farthings could be for you.

The Space:
Farthings has a bright open plan kitchen, living and dining area. The ideal space for socialising, you can relax on the matching comfy sofa or armchair and enjoy a night in front of the Smart TV. If you’d prefer some ‘me’ time, this space is also perfect for getting stuck into a good book.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, oven, hob, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. Sharing this space is the dining area which has a rectangular table and four grey, padded dining chairs.

A second living space can be found on the ground floor. Here you’ll find a wall-mounted flat screen Smart TV and a large sofa.

The property has two cosy bedrooms. The master bedroom features a king-size bed and the second is a twin, however the beds can be merged into a king upon request if this is more suitable for your stay. Both rooms have crisp white linens with light soft furnishings. Ample space for your belongings, there are white wood bedside tables and matching chest of drawers.

With grey, marble effect tiles, the family bathroom has a clean, modern look. It is complete with a spacious bathtub, separate walk-in shower, WC and basin. The master bedroom is also home to an ensuite shower room.

Outside the property is an external seating area with garden benches and paving, perfect for enjoying the warmer weather.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during guest bookings. For this reason, we require all our guests to transfer a Damage Deposit (refundable, subject to an administration charge) or to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver which will cover you for up to £500 of accidental damage during your stay.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to Farthings are accessed via a key safe box, and full details will be provided before check-in.

Private on-site parking is available for two vehicles.

Please note that the rear garden fence is quite low and possibly not suitable for agile dogs as they may be able to jump over it.

The Neighborhood:
The coastal town of Whitby has something special about it and has long been popular with visitors to Yorkshire’s Coast, owing to its delightful harbour which is surrounded by pretty houses, restaurants and fun things to do. All this splendour is overlooked by the historic Whitby Abbey.

The town is famous for its association with Bram Stoker‘s Dracula, English explorer Captain James Cook and the mysterious Whitby Jet. Visitors can stroll along the harbour walls, from where seals, dolphins and porpoises can be seen as little fishing boats chug by. The town’s maritime heritage is commemorated by statues of Captain Cook and William Scoresby, as well as the whalebone arch that sits at the top of the West Cliff.

Other significant features include the swing bridge, which crosses the River Esk and the harbour, which is sheltered by the grade II listed East and West piers.

West of town is West Cliff Beach, lined with colourful beach huts.

Getting Around:
Whitby rail station is located along Bagdale and towards Victoria Square. There are routes to Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Sunderland, Newcastle, Hexham and Carlisle via the scenic Esk Valley Line.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is also accessible from Whitby rail station. Go back in time and enjoy dramatic moorland all the way to the market town of Pickering.

Whitby has great bus routes to surrounding areas including villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast. You’ll find regular routes to Scarborough and Middlesbrough, along with occasional direct services to Pickering, Malton, York and Leeds.

The nearest airport is Teesside International, 45 miles away from Whitby.

Interaction with Guests:
We're always available for our guests so do not hesitate to get in touch.
