Alfama is one of the oldest and most charming neighbourhoods in Lisbon. It is known for its narrow, winding streets, historic buildings, and stunning views of the Tagus River. The area is famous for its traditional Fado music, with many small restaurants and bars hosting live performances. The São Jorge Castle, the Lisbon Cathedral, and the National Pantheon are key attractions. Alfama's unique character, vibrant culture, and rich history make it a popular destination for tourists and locals.
Saint Anthony, the patron saint of Lisbon, is celebrated every year on June 13th with the Festas de Lisboa, also known as the Santo António Festival. This festival includes street parties, parades, traditional music, and food, particularly sardines. The event is vibrant and integral to Lisbon's cultural heritage, attracting locals and tourists.
