About this property

Large Historic Manor House in centre of Oxford city.

Beautiful historic house with many original features. High ceilings, carved handrails, huge Edwardian windows. Built on a grand scale, the rooms all offer spacious accommodation.

There are three large double bedrooms;
1 x double bed
1 x double bed
3 x single beds

A double sofa-bed downstairs, in the dining room, forms a fourth bedroom.

Large separate living room with sofas and arm chairs, with French doors, out to the private enclosed garden patio.

A a large kitchen fully equipped in 1970s style. Similarly, the bathroom is spacious., yet slightly dated. It has a large bath and separate shower cubicle.

This is a historic house which is protected by Heritage England. We are not able to update the kitchen and bathroom without planning permission, they are not modern, as you find in newer houses. We have installed a brand-new oven, a brand-new gas hob stove & dishwasher, it is well equipped for guests to enjoy. With excellent heating and hot water & fast WiFi..

During the term times this house is normally used for visiting professors at the University. It is next to the Radcliffe Infirmary site and opposite St Annes College and Templeton College, a very central location next to St Giles - the best address in Oxford. We rent it out to the public when it is empty. There is no TV, but there is good Wi-Fi, fast enough for online teaching or zoom meetings.

You are a moment's walk from the centre of Oxford, St Giles, with the Ashmolean museum and great restaurants on your doorstep. A grocery store & a pharmacy are next door. 1 minute from trendy Jericho with canal walks, independent cinema, great restaurants, bars & OUP. Outside are bus stops in both directions around the city & to the train station. This is a well lit, high end neighbourhood, which is safe to walk around. Easy to stroll back to after an evening out.

Children are welcome to stay in the property. We do not have equipment for young children. If there’s something you need, we will do our best to provide it, let us know & we will try to accommodate you. We may be able to add additional beds if required for a small fee.

As a historic property, this house is strictly no parties, weddings or events. Filming may be possible, contact us for commercial rates. No hen or stag bookings. There are outdoor security cameras, overlooking the driveway and parking.

Parking is sold separately it can be booked inexpensively on the “Just Park” app. We can also arrange for you to drop off your luggage before check-in & at checkout, we are happy to store your luggage for a few hours; we have an office nearby as well as some rear storage. We may be able to offer early check-in it depending on the cleaning schedule, obviously it is large house to prepare and we want to make it comfortable for you. if you’re flying in long-haul, let us know, we appreciate you may be tired.

Adjacent to property is a one bedroom flat (Not included). This is also available to rent when unoccupied. It is above the blue arch & gates in the picture, It has a steep staircase, kitchen-living room, modern bathroom and double bed.
