About this property

Eco-friendly Cornish sanctuary peaceful location

Soak up the best that Cornwall has to offer by booking a stay in Chy Venton – the home of This Cornish Sanctuary. Nestled in the heart of the Penwith peninsular, the wildest and most beautiful part of this country's most south-westerly tip, you’ll be perfectly situated to discover the most magical sandy beaches, towns and villages, stunning walks and seaside ports, to sample the freshest of food, then leave with a sense of well-being, to help rebalance in this bustling, pressured modern-world.

The walks are rugged, the food is wholesome, the people are friendly, and there’s plenty to keep you busy here. So, whatever you like to do, whether it’s walking or swimming, visiting artists or mines, surfing or climbing, visiting gardens or lapping up cream teas (jam first) you’ll be sure to miss the local summer traffic ready to arrive at any of these local destinations, fluster free.

This stunning and well equipped peaceful eco-build has it all, a fully equipped kitchen, a log burner, a comfy sofa, and sumptuous beds. The mattresses are super comfy, and we even have different pillow types so you can choose how best to slumber.

BATHROOM
The bathroom has a great shower, a large bath, very hot water, and a shower that doesn’t dribble – solar power accounts for the majority of your electric usage, with a septic tank and reed-bed system that looks after your waste.

Please be advised: you will be expected to use the shampoo, conditioner, and soap provided to keep the reed-bed bio-cultures alive. Of course, they are fantastic products from Faith in Nature, and we use them ourselves. Additionally, you will be required to use biodegradable toilet paper, of which we supply a roll to get you started, and the bin provided is for period products and wet wipes, so please don’t flush them.

LOUNGE
The lounge has books with games and DVDs. We do have wi-fi but we currently have no TV signal. The room has a small TV, because getting close means getting cosy, right, in front of a roaring fire, perhaps. The fixtures and fittings are either handmade or have been specially chosen to add to your comfort, like the velvet sofa and Persian rug.

KITCHEN
The Kitchen boasts actual free cupboard-space with a fridge and dishwasher, a cooker and all the utensils you need to cook a wholesome meal. We keep stock on spice and the odd basic foodstuff. We tend to leave a gift to help you settle. If you need anything at all please ask and we’ll do our best to provide it.

BEDROOM 1
The bedroom is super inviting, the double bed has a high-quality mattress with wool fibers for winter, breathable on the reverse for summer. A topper adds to that comfort with the whole dressed in French linen. The wardrobe is large with storage space on top. A hairdryer an ironing board and mirror have been provided to help you look your best.

BEDROOM 2
The mezzanine offers space enough for two children, two young teenagers, or even a couple of adult friends (king-sized bedding is available as the twin beds transform into a king-sized bed). The stairs are designed to offer space-saving access, but with a half turn and lazy ladder please be careful.

HALLWAY/UTILITY
The utility room has space enough to manage all the usual holiday clutter. There are shelves and a cupboard for shoving stuff, and a washing machine to look after your dirty clothes (you can find a clothes air dryer stored in the bathroom cupboard, along with a mop for spills, just in case). A hose with tap is located outside for cleaning wetsuits.

EXTERIOR
Leading out from the utility you’ll find that hose, the entrance courtyard, a BBQ and the recycling bins. Free parking is provided and there’s a path that leads to the private garden, beyond a footpath heading out to the wilds (Carn Euny is less than a 30-minute walk away, there are holy wells nearby (one in our community garden) and Sancreed beacon has the best views around).

The private back garden has a table and chairs, flower beds and a small fire-pit. At the front you can rinse your wetsuits at the outside tap, then hang them to dry outside the front door.

We also have a roundhouse which can be made available to guests who might wish to continue their daily practice of meditation. Please ask for further details.

We also run retreats here, writer retreats and peaceful retreats for women and men. Again, please ask for details.

PETS ALLOWED
We welcome one small-medium sized well-behaved dog but ask that they are never left unattended in the house and are kept off the furniture. Please bring your own dog bedding so that they can feel at home. There is an outside tap to rinse muddy paws and we ask you to dry them thoroughly. We have a cat who is quite old, so please keep your dog on the lead when they are in the garden and driveway.

Sancreed is a sleepy village with no shop and no amenities, but St Just is only 4 miles away by car, with Newlyn just 3. What it lacks in that regard Sancreed makes up for in direct access to the whole peninsular. For instance, Sennen Cove is so close you can be there in 8 minutes. It’s the reason we moved here, and you’ll find it second to none if you intend to make the most of your stay.

ACCESSIBILITY: The track leading up to Chy Venton is narrow. You will need to drive very slowly and would not be suitable for  tall vehicles, such as a large campervan. Chy Venton is suitable for children and able-bodied adults. The parking is level with 3 steps down to the front door. The internal stairs to the mezzanine level are steep so it may not be suited to those with limited mobility. Do call us first to make sure it’s suitable for you.

This property is not wheelchair friendly and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. If this applies, please contact us to discuss the properties potential suitability prior to confirming.

CHANGEOVER & SHORT BREAKS: Changeover is usually Friday. Short breaks are available for a minimum of three nights with flexible changeover days. Do check with us if your dates don't quite fit as we will always try to help.

MOBILE PHONES: You get a signal on most networks but it can be patchy, you may have to find the right spot!

PROPERTY IMAGES AND DESCRIPTIONS: From time to time minor upgrades and improvements and changes to furnishings at The property may mean it varies slightly from the images and descriptions shown.
