Duck Down Cottage is a cosy one-bedroom hideaway, providing guests with a unique and relaxing stay by the coast, perfect for a couple’s seaside getaway. Steeped in history, it was originally built in 1690, reportedly from stone from a demolished castle and is nestled in the heart of Whitby.
The cottage boasts a comfortable living area, ideal for snuggling up by the fire and catching a movie on the flat screen TV. Its location is perfectly placed for accessing an array of eatery options within the town of Whitby, although if you fancy a night in, the kitchen is fully equipped to whip up a dinner for two: oven, stove top, fridge, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. A stunning double bed is tucked off the lounge separated by an impressive solid wood sliding door. The cottage has ample charm, but with modern amenities such as walk in shower and heated towel rail in the bathroom.
Duck Down Cottage is conveniently, centrally located and only a 10 minute walk away from the train station, making accessing the villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast super easy. If you wish to visit cultural and historic landmarks when in Whitby, as well as it’s gorgeous beaches, then take a trip to Whitby Abbey, or visit Captain Cook’s memorial museum.
And remember If you want to bring your furry friend with you, for long coastal walks, the studio allows one small well-behaved dog.
Please note: on-street parking is available however, it's on a first come first serve basis. Duck Down Cottage is aptly named as taller guests may need to 'duck down' in the living room due to a couple of low lying beams- this adds to the charm and character of the property.
