Visiting for moab rocks mtb race and wanted to stay away from town. Thompson springs is a nice scenic 30 minute drive from moab and offers solitude and dark skies. Great gravel riding routes in the book cliffs right out of the driveway.
This was a great affordable place for us to stay not far from Moab, Arches and Canyonlands. The RV was very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed including a microwave, toaster and a refrigerator with a separate freezer section. The bed was comfortable and there was good closet space. The bathroom has a walk-in shower. It is a bit of a drive to the national parks, 45 minutes to 1 hour. The online pictures could show more of the kitchen. We would stay again. The drive up the canyon to the ghost town and petroglyphs was beautiful and interesting.
All listed amenities were available, including wifi. It was my first time staying in an RV. No issues whatsoever. Clear directions were provided ahead of time and with a notebook in the RV. Easy check in and out. Would definitely stay again. Reasonable price and within 30min of Moab.
This property was a great place just off I-70 near so many awesome parks ! I truly enjoyed the convenience. It was a peaceful, enjoyable place. Nice and cozy with lots of amenities. Loved the wood deck too. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again. Thank you, Teresa
An awesome and comfortable RV- all the amenities and no inconveniences. The host really cares that you have a great experience. A 30-40 minute drive to downtown and/or arches national park. RV park is quiet- everyone is super respectful.
Had a good stay. Tge place was very clean and gave decent accessibility to all the Moab area parks. Check out Thompson canyon. It's a neat little excursion right from town.
Our trip was centered around off-road motorcycling. Ballard had immediate access to great trails and easy access to many, many others. Park model RV was just enough room for us to cook, rest and restore. Parking was generous enough to accommodate our truck and 4 motorcycles and small trailer. Park was super quiet and staff was helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much and would come back again and definitely recommend.
Was a good place for a home base as we explored the red rock canyons and arches. Was pretty well stocked with linens and kitchen essentials. Pleased with the cost of the rental. The manager was extremely helpful with the few hiccups we had and checked in with us that everything was ok. Would stay here again.
I've stayed here three times over the last few years. It is a cheaper alternative to staying in Moab, this Catalina is nicer than some hotel rooms I've stayed in! Plus the Sego Canyon Indian paintings are just a few miles up the road and they are fascinating to me! Everything I want to do and see in this part of Utah is within shooting distance of Ballard Campground, it's convenient, right off the interstate, there's a gas station and 7-Eleven right there, you can't beat it! Vacationing out here has become a yearly thing for me, so I am sure I will be back next year!
Stayed at this location on a family road trip. One of the best stays I’ve ever had while traveling. Gorgeous views, peaceful property, and great proximity to national parks and Moab. Check in/out was simple. Incredibly well stocked location. We would definitely stay here again
Our stay at the campground was easy going. The directions we received were spot-on. It was convenient to Arches National Park and had everything we needed. It's not fancy but it's clean and pleasant. Thank you.
We have never stayed in an RV before, so we looked forward to this stay with cautious optimism. We were VERY pleasantly surprised!
The communication with Walt was great, and the RV was terrific. It has been modified to be stationary with a built porch and width sections to make it much wider, and it has been plumbed to have a great functioning shower and toilet. Everything needed was there!
We grilled and had a fire pit for a great evening in a very quiet park with friendly neighbors.
It is an easy drive to Moab, Arches and Canyonlands at much more reasonable prices than other nearby towns.
Note: there is not a lot in Thompson Springs - basically 2 RV parks, and a combo Exxon and 7-Eleven, but we picked up groceries in Moab.
Would highly recommend this place!
Our stay at the Ballard RV Park was just a perfect location for our 2-day jaunt to Canyondlands and Arches National Parks. It was well appointed, clean and comfortable. There is a 7 11 conveniently located to the property for incidentals and gas. Walter was responsive to any questions we had before our arrival. Thank You!
The RV park and our RV rental was one of the best stays of a two week trip. The property was clean, well organized and easily accessible. Bonus was the proximity to Arches and other parks. We were the only couple of four who don’t have a RV so having an option to stay on property with them was great! Much better than a hotel!
The place was great! Internet was sketchy but adequate. Not really any place to eat or shop unless you go all the way to Moab (45 min). The town of Thompson Springs consist of a 7-Eleven. Laundry was $5 a load even though listing said free. A jaunt to the parks but the price was reasonable.
Other than the picture of the inside and outside not actually matching what I drove up too every thing was great. It had everything that I needed.

I have always enjoyed this part of Utah, but never liked heavy traffic and congestion. That's why i prefer the slow and quiet pace of Thompson Springs ,which is only 30 minutes north of Moab and Arches National Park. Ballard RV park is small enough to be quaint and friendly.
