About this property

Glen Cottage - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

Entering the cottage from the porch, the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner provides a charming sociable living space for unwinding after a day of adventures. There are two comfortable leather sofas to curl up on in front of the cosy log-burning stove while you enjoy your favourite series on the Smart TV or a good book.

The brand new kitchen overlooks the pretty garden and comes fully equipped with fridge, induction hob, oven, microwave and dishwasher. On warmer days why not open up the french doors for an al fresco drink and nibble - or even just a serene moment observing the comings and goings of the resident birds and wildlife. At the back of the garage there is a useful utility space with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Moving upstairs there are two beautiful bedrooms. The master bedroom is at the front of the cottage with king size bed, double windows and plenty of storage space, and the twin bedroom is to the back of the cottage. Both bedrooms have quality beds and mattresses, made up with crisp white bed linen and towels. The bathroom has a mirror with lighting, WC hand wash basin and beautiful bath with shower over, ideal for reinvigorating tired muscles,

There is an electric vehicle charging point next to the private allocated covered car parking space (please note the charging point is shared with Spa Cottage next door)

Guests can enjoy complimentary WiFi

There is an abundance of choice when it comes to walking routes, or why not bring your bike with you to see even more of this beautiful area with pedal power. There is a lockable shed at the back of the garden for storage.

It would be easy to park up and enjoy a jam-packed car-free holiday. Braithwaite amenities include three lovely pubs serving food and local ales, village shop and a tea room. Theres nearby Whinlatter Forest along with a huge selection of walks and outdoor activities to choose from, a nearby bus stop with routes taking you all over the Lake District, and Keswick town centre only minutes away.

a sunny September week at Glenn Cottage
Glenn Cottage is an outstanding property. Recently renovated, the cottage has been finished to a very high standard. The owner / renovator has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable, for example, night lights that click on if you get up in the night, outdoor lights to highlight the garden, black out blinds, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The crockery, kitchen equipment, and linen are also high quality. The garden is beautiful and really well thought out. It has plenty of seating and is perfect for breakfast or an evening gin and tonic and a covered porch. We have two escape artist dogs and the garden really is fully enclosed. The location is perfect (with two pubs and a shop) and we hiked out from the cottage most days and only moved to car once (to go to Keswick for supplies). My only negative comments are that the second twin bedroom is very small, with no storage and there is only a two seater sofa and one easy chair in the lounge. As a couple this did not impact on our holiday at all and I only make the comment to help bigger groups work out if this is the best cottage for them. We will certainly be booking to stay at Glenn Cottage again soon.

We loved it!
We had a great stay at Glen Cottage. It is well situated in the lovely village of Braithwaite, close to the shop, cafe and pub- all of which are great too. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable and has a fab garden for relaxing in after a long day on the fells or out exploring.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely village
The cottage has been renovated tastefully. The kitchen had everything you could need. The bathroom is beautiful . The lounge is a bit small for 4 people with a 3-seater couch and a chair .we found it brilliant for 2. The bedrooms are lovely with blackout blinds and curtains in both. The master bedroom has hanging rail and shelving . The is no storage in the twin and nowhere to put anything. The add bonus of the garden on a sunny day is great to relax after a day on the fells. Parking in the garage was fine for us and we have a large vehicle. We will definitely be back..

Glen Cottage
a period cottage is set in a beautiful quiet location with good parking. The house is newly decorated with a nice kitchen, bathroom and garden. Unfortunately the beds had thick synthetic winter duvets in the hight of summer, it was 23 degrees in the cottage. I thought the customer service from Keswick cottages in resolving this (which they didn't) was poor. The pillows were also really cheap and uncomfortable and gave me a really stiff neck. We paid a lot of money to stay for a week and I expected better, the idea of a holiday is to go away and relax and feel comfortable, considering you spend a third of your day in bed its important to have this right and the quality should reflect the price we paid we stay. Despite the cottage being decorated nicely it was a shame the art work on the walls and other furniture were so cheap and didn't flow together nicley. Ashame some of the original charm of a period cottage wasn't kept. I thought it was very stingy to only leave 3 dishwasher tablets and 2 toilet rolls and no laundry liquid considering we were a family of 4 staying 7 nights.

We missed having a freezer compartment in the fridge. Was a bit difficult getting into the bath for a shower for us oldies. But overall a lovely cottage to recommend.

Fabulous cottage in the lovely village of Braithwaite
We had a wonderful week at Glen Cottage. It is decorated and equipped to a very high standard. We were lucky enough to enjoy fabulous weather so made use of the garden too. There were just to 2 of us staying and we found it the perfect size. I think 4 adults would be a bit of a squeeze as there is little storage space in the second bedroom. It is literally across the road from the village shop and tearoom where we enjoy a lovely breakfast. The welcome pack with tea, coffee and sachets of milk was a lovely touch too. We will definitely return to this beautiful cottage
