About this property

200 feet of level lake access.

Google Red Creek Cottage or scroll down for link.

Enjoy three seasons of beauty and relaxation, combined with numerous local activities!
Available Spring, Summer (weekly only) and Fall.

Red Creek Cottage is a three-bedroom, two-story cottage on the western shore of Seneca Lake, 13 miles north of Watkins Glen, 22 miles south of Geneva, and 13 miles east of Penn Yan (on neighboring Keuka Lake). The cottage is located right on Seneca Lake, set back about 50 feet from the water, with lake frontage of 200 feet, a stream with a bridge, and a few acres of woods behind the cottage.

With the lake on one side and the woods on the other, you will enjoy peace and quiet and the feeling of being surrounded by nature. Our cottage is the perfect retreat where you can truly relax with family and friends.

Sit back with a book or a glass of wine from one of the many wineries down the road in the sunny front yard or in the shade of our mature trees (a large willow, maples, firs, birches, a redbud and others). We have a large shale beach (shale is smooth flat rocks of various sizes), a lot of shallow water for wading and swimming; a fire pit, outdoor dining table with umbrella seating 6, large picnic table seating 8, many lounge chairs, gas grill, 2 canoes, 2 kayaks, life jackets, and other recreational equipment.

This is a classic, pine-paneled cottage, fully winterized and insulated with electric heat. Enjoy the stunning view from the front lawn or from the living room or kitchen table through the picture windows that line the entire front of the cottage. At night in bed listen to the waves lapping at the shore.

Microwave, coffee-maker, toaster, blender, pots and pans, service for 8, linens, blankets, pillows, towels and washcloths. You can enjoy a selection of cards, toys, games, and board games for all ages, a library of reading material, and family-friendly DVDs. We provide baby equipment including a pack-n-play, booster seat, and baby/toddler cups and bowls. There is a washer and dryer, a phone (local calls only), alarm clocks, a hair dryer, toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, tissues, dish soap, , hand soap, sponges, firewood, starter sticks, first aid kit, and information on local attractions, maps and directions.

In addition to a king-sized bed in the downstairs bedroom, there is a king-sized bed upstairs and four twin-sized beds in the upstairs bedrooms.

Please see our website for more information and additional photos.

The cottage is situated at the end of a private lake road. Like most of the lake roads in the area, the road extends from SR 14 down a hill to Seneca Lake.

Detailed direction to the cottage and instructions for driving up and down the lake road hill will be provided before arrival.

Because of allergies, the property is NOT pet friendly. Thank you for respecting our family's vacation home.

This is a non-smoking property.

We ask that our renters be respective of our neighbors and follow the lake road rules. The private road pavement is maintained by our road association.

Beautiful View after perilous descent
It was a great place to stay for an adult daughter-father quick 4 day trip. The cabin was blessed with all of the items listed and more so. The only issue is the “cleanliness” factor. It is a cabin by the lake and thus visited by bugs, a little decay due to weather and a few more seasons than maybe advertised. On the other hand—it is truly a restful and wonderful place—enabling us to have our own space and common space. We would do it again in a heartbeat. The area is filled with wineries, good museums and natural beauty. The drive down the hill to get to the cabin is less frightening than it is made out to be—but inclement weather might make it a truly frightening experience. ALL IN ALL_-if available and going to the area—take the cabin. You won’t be sorry!!

Very relaxing setting
This property is very private yet easy to access and within 15 minutes of great hiking and activities. We loved the view of the lake and the comfortable beds. The canoe and kayaks were a great touch and provided hours of entertainment. We hope to return in the future.

Peaceful and Private
Very private setting. Cottage and lot is nestled into the hillside and on a private lot. Would definitely go back if we were to vacation in the area again. Only suggestion would be to update the beds in the upstairs sleeping areas.

EXACTLY as advertised in every wonderful way!
Four friends and I turned 50 this year and reunited from all over the country (and one from Canada) for a fishing trip. I was put in charge of finding the place and chose the Red Creek Cottage for it's waterfront lawn, tranquil and private setting, charm and overall vibe. I've been enjoying my friends' praises ever since. The place is not fancy but VERY clean and VERY comfortable (including the beds, sitting areas, layout and outside area). The owners simply could not have been better to deal with and the place itself makes you feel at home within a few minutes. It was fantastic to have a well stocked kitchen, games, towels, kayaks, firewood, and everything else we needed other than food and drinks. I can't say enough about the location, the charm of the place and the great outdoor space. We threw the ball on the lawn during the day, sat by the fire pit through sunsets and played board games at the table each night. We fished a few days and explored Watkins Glen (an easy 15-20 minute drive) too. Close enough to all we needed but far enough to make us feel like we were getting away from it all. The locals are very nice and there are a lot of things to do (particularly adults) in the area with beautiful wineries and breweries, but the cottage would have sufficed if we had stayed home during the day. If you think this place looks like what you are looking for, it is! It's exactly as advertised and was an absolute delight.

Great View & Perfect Getaway
This is a wonderful cottage right on the waters edge. It has a firepit and tables outside which we utilized since it was unseasonably warm the weekend we stayed. I would definitely recommend . The beds are comfy, the kitchen was well stocked and the view is mesmerizing.

Charming cottage on beautiful Seneca Lake
Lovely location and beautiful lake front property. We were 6 adults and managed just fine even with the 1 shower/bathroom. Everything you need for cooking or grilling or baking is right there. Had fun rowing on the lake, too. Toys and games for all ages are available in the cottage and lots of places to visit, hike or tour in the area. Owners provided detailed information. NOTE: Be careful on the access road, it's quite steep and gravel can get slippery.

Didn't want to leave
My husband and I stayed here for 5 days and was one of our best vacations. We loved the serenity a d there are so many things to do in the area. The cottage was immaculate and the owners have every amenity you could think of. We would rent this vacation home again in a heartbeat.

Red Creek Cottage
We loved the house and property, especially the fire pit by the lake on an almost full moon evening. The drive down the hill can be rather challenging, however we managed just fine. Overall a wonderful stay!

Father-Son Getaway
We enjoyed a 4 day weekend of hiking by day and amateur astronomy at night. While trees and lakeshore lights were a distraction, a lack of nearby large cities made the milky way visible each night. The property is honestly described, and was clean, well stocked, and well maintained. Owners included helpful notes on how to best make use of the property and find needed items. There was even a bound and well-organized notebook with tons of info on local attractions and dining. Overall, the atmosphere makes you fell like a welcome guest of the owners.

enjoyable stay
Six female family members shared this cottage for an enjoyable 3 night stay. Cottage was perfect for us. It was very clean and the area very quiet. Keep in mind that this is a somewhat older cottage in a semi wooded lakefront area. If you are looking for a modern new beach type house, this is not for you. But the house is comfortable and gave us a space to gather together and relax, something we couldn't get from hotel rooms. The drive down (and up) the road/driveway is a little scary at first, but doable. I would have been very hesitant to drive up or down with a trailer attached and not sure a big pick up truck or extra large vehicle would fit between the neighbors house. We had a minivan and didn't have a whole lot of room to spare. Would definately check with owners if you had a large vehicle before renting. The area is beautiful with lots to do, My only complaint is that there isn't enough time to enjoy all the area has to offer.

Adorable Cottage in an Amazing Location
My friend and I rented Red Creek Cottage during the last weekend of Oct 2011. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The cottage is loaded with everything you can think of so all you need is your clothes and food! The road down to the cottage was definitely steep and winding but luckily no one else was staying around the cottage so the road was ours all the time. I did love that you have to cross the drawbridge to get to the cottage - adds to the charm of the place! We liked lounging around after a day of wine tasting, which was more comfortable than at a B&B. I would definitely stay here again when it's warmer so I can take advantage of the lake! Great place for quiet getaway and if you need a place to just chill out!

Lovely Cottage
The cottage was very clean and cozy. I was impressed with how much thought the owners put into having everything you could need. You really only need to bring your food and clothing. The location is great for visiting wineries and is very close to Watkins Glen. But the best part for us was the large lake frontage. In an area where there are a lot of camps on top of each other, this one is totally private. It was a very relaxing place to stay. And the driveway sounds a lot worse than it is. We had no problem getting up and down it. My only complaint is the week flew by way too fast.

What a fabulous time!!
I almost hesitate to write this, because the more people that go to Red Creek Cottage, the less availability there is for us to return! Our family had an amazingly relaxing (but very fun!) week at the cottage. It was everything we had hoped for and more!!! Yes, the driveway is a little hairy, but, hey! We are here to write about it! :) Owners have an amazing binder with all of the info of things to do in the area--and their website offers a tremendous amount of info for pre-stay planning. (They are also VERY child friendly!!!!) Can't say enough about the entire experience!

A Charming Cottage
Four long-time sorority sisters shared this darling cabin for several nights. The cottage is charming and cozy, well equipped and carefully updated. The access road is steep but not scary; it's a tight squeeze, however, between another cottage and the hill. We loved sitting out at the picnic table in the early evening, watching the mama duck and her ducklings, enjoying the quiet and beauty. If you sleep in the bedroom fronting the lake, you can hear the water lapping against the shore. Were treated to a dramatic lightning display one night. Watkins Glen State Park is magnificent! Also enjoyed the Corning Museum of Glass.

A magical place
We lucked out in that it wasn`t a wintry weekend...the owners aptly described the steep curvy driveway....thought they were exaggerating...not at all...but well worth it...very well kept cozy cottage, stocked with everything...our grandson loved the draw bridges to gain access to cottage...not far from many things to do...Watkins Glen, winiries, trails to hike, kayaking in season....so peaceful on Seneca Lake this time of year...and lots to do at the cottage...movies,games, skipping the nice flat shale rocks across the lake...awakening to lovely sunrises...very nice

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the property when we stayed there in 2008. We couldn't pass up the chance to purchase it the following spring! Our children have grown up enjoying the cottage and we are happy to have others enjoy the cottage and lake as well!
