Our Opinion:
ideal apartment for short-term stays thanks to the optimal location in the Oltrarno area of the historic center of Florence, a few meters from Piazza Pitti. Its country chic and modern style makes it perfect for 4 guests who travel without sacrificing style and comfort. It can also be useful for long-term stays thanks to the quiet area and the washing machine in the accommodation.

The apartment is located in the historic Oltrarno district. “Oltrarno” means “beyond the Arno” and this area extends along the south/left bank of the river. The Oltrarno represents the true essence of Florence: a quiet, green and therefore more relaxing area than the others. For this reason, many tourists appreciate it more and more. This area is also known as the handicraft district, famous for its delightful workshops, small shops and artisans' studios (in particular antique dealers and leather goods dealers): via Maggio represents the center of Florentine antiques.
From a rural centre, in the past centuries the Oltrarno became a chic district where many aristocrats built their palaces and villas. The largest of these is undoubtedly Palazzo Pitti, former residence of the Grand Duke of Tuscany. Nowadays Palazzo Pitti hosts many exhibitions and museums, among the most important in the city. Other important attractions of the Oltrarno are the Brancacci Chapel with its magnificent frescoes by Masaccio, Masolino and Filippino Lippi, the Piazzale Michelangelo with its breathtaking panorama of Florence, the magnificent church of San Miniato (one of the highest points of the city and the best example of Romanesque art in Tuscany) and the Ponte Vecchio which houses countless jewelers and goldsmiths. Inside Palazzo Pitti is the wonderful Boboli Gardens, an open-air museum of sculptures, some dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries.
Finally, the Oltrarno is also famous for the market in Piazza Santo Spirito (set up every morning), its cafés and wine bars (Olio & Convivium, Bene Vobis, Caffè degli Artigiani . . .) and the trattorias offering Tuscan cuisine (Il Santo bevitore, I 4 Leoni, Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco, Il Magazzino. . .). Those who choose to live in this area will find a wide range of food shops, pastry shops, bakers and much more.
The historic center of Florence is a restricted traffic area and therefore there are special rules for accessing or parking in this area.
The apartment is located within the restricted traffic area (ZTL).
If you want to use your car to get around the city, we advise you to pay particular attention to the road signs in order to avoid unpleasant fines and to contact private garages in the center (that is, the one closest to your home) in order to obtain a temporary access permit.
Recommended accesses to the Ztl: Porta Romana or Porta San Frediano
Upon your arrival at the garage, within 3 hours of your first access to the Ztl Oltrarno (but be careful not to cross the river!), the garage marks your plate on the "white list" for regular access without a fine.
