Come and discover the fascinating history and exciting future of the vibrant city of Salford. Ideally located next to neighbouring Manchester, Salford is a city of contrast with stunning modern landscapes, iconic waterways and picturesque green spaces, all ideal for exploring. With an abundance of arts, culture, sport, shopping, heritage, relaxation and impressive scenery, there’s enough to keep visitors entertained for a day, a weekend or longer.
World-class attractions like The Lowry and Imperial War Museum North, home to BBC North, ITV and Coronation Street, theatres, galleries, designer shopping, river cruises, museums, modern architecture, watersports, football and cricket make The Quays a spectacular destination.
Over half the city is made up of green spaces and features forests, nature reserves, mosslands, parklands and picturesque villages. There are hundreds of acres of beautiful park with a variety of wildlife habitats. Salford has the UK's only orange canal, wetland, ponds and a fishing lake.
As one of the world's first industrial cities, Salford is flooded with historic achievements - including the world's first free public library. Worsley village was the site of the transport revolution thanks to the Bridgewater Canal and there are 600 years of history packed into the haunted Tudor house, Ordsall Hall.
