Vegan Seafront Retreat with Yoga Studio in West Wittering

Luxury accommodation for up to 20 with living rooms, suites and a Yoga studio overlooking the sea (Hot-tub and Sauna coming in August). 7 ensuite bedrooms in total and Daily housekeeping included in the price. The house was carefully designed by Grandfather Architect Michael Lyell, to reconnect people with nature in great comfort and provision. The house is managed with natural, organic and ecological materials, products and practices. The House grants access away from the traffic down a private road with private seafront access to West Wittering beach.

Parties of 14 that keep to the plant-based house rule are welcomed however the main house has beds for 18. We accept larger bookings of up to 20 that are alcohol free, such as groups interested to practice their Yoga and Meditation in the Yoga Studio with the view and sound of the sea. For larger bookings the adjoining staff cottage can be booked.

✔ 10am - Midday our daily housekeeper will turn down beds, hoover floors, empty the dishwasher and wipe down surfaces but we ask Guests to keep things clean and tidy please.

The space

This exceptional cedar home blends modern luxury and natural beauty. Large sliding glass windows/doors throughout the property provide panoramic sea views, allowing you to remain connected to nature even whilst indoors.

The spacious living areas are designed for both comfort and style, featuring flexible seating designed for various use cases around a cozy fireplace for the adults and a large painting of a whale that retracts to reveal a surround sound entertainment system for children or sports in the downstairs sitting room. The impressionist art collection is from 70 years of celebrated artists and family history co-founding Itchenor Sailing Club and other local projects. Everything works to celebrate and work with nature and remain humble, practical and creative.

There are beds for 18 people in the main house but we limit parties to 14 unless they are better organised, alcohol free parties that can be up to 20 people holidays with people we have come to know. We do this to preserve the house and avoid large noisey parties for our community.

★ KITCHEN + DINING ★

The minimalist kitchen design by David Townsend has been praised as the best that many chefs who have worked here have been in. We have refitted the kitchen recently with brand new state-of-the-art cooking appliances in this fully equipped kitchen to support the far healthier and longer lived plant based organic diet including top of the range milk makers, icecream makers, refrigerators, blenders, pasta makers and more.

The kitchen is equipped for professional chefs to serve with a team, including plate heaters, steaming ovens, two top Meile dishwashers and other essentials but is as tho a family kitchen. The ample cabinetry hides many of the devices that extend out to keep things spacious.

The family are Buddhists and observe a strict plant based diet and kindly request that those we are welcoming into our family space respect this code of conduct.

There is a VBBQ in the garden and a huge wadge of Vegan Cookbooks in the library upstairs.

★ LIVING ★

The spacious upstairs living area has a high vaulted Cedar ceilings in a Delta shape from which the euponemous title of the house is driven. The expansive triple glazed panoramic glass wall creates a bright and peaceful atmosphere connected to the sea, allowing you to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over one of the most historic waterways in the world.

Bespoke sound systems have been designed for both the upstairs and downstairs living rooms, either free standing and integrated into a brain room offering wireless control or built into the walls of the downstairs living room. You can make a lot of noise without anyone hearing because of the triple glazing and space.

The comfortable seating areas of the main living room feature modern sofas and antique furniture designed by Terrance Conran for Michael, with various backless chairs that can move around with the conversation at a party. The traditional local beach stone wall fireplace adds a touch of indigenous charm for cozy evenings by the fire which turns even a rainy day into an awe inspiring spectacle of nature over the sea. Especially at sunrise and sunset watching the weather change all the way to the horizon.

Both living rooms have a counter, glasses and a built in fridge for drinks


★ BEDROOMS ★

Each of the six guest bedrooms (the staff cottage is available for alcohol free retreats) is designed to look after family and groups of people in comfort and privacy, offering various bedding configurations of natural materials, limestone bathrooms, dedicated working spaces and each with individual character.

Large openeing glass walls and balconies enhance the sense of space and connection to the beautiful outdoor surroundings. Drift off and wake up to the sound of waves and the light of beautiful sunrises sunsets over the sea from your bed. All rooms have an ensuite bathrooms and some have the option of a smaller room or beds for guests, children or dressing, offering guests their own private spaces to retreat to.

♛ Master Suite: Superking with balcony, glass wall and the best views over the sea and sunset with a very large ensuite bathroom / shower whose bath looks over the sea.

♛ Family suite: Superking (or splits into two singles) with adjoining double or twin with sea views and large ensuite bathroom.

♛ Launch Suite: Superking (or splits into two singles) with two bunks for children, a private sunken terrace and large ensuite bathroom.

♛ Coral Room:: Superking (can split into two singles) with large ensuite bathroom, storage and dedicated working area.

♛ Sailor’s Birthing: This dorm has three bunk beds, one of which is double over double, with very large storage areas, shoe storage, ensuite bathroom looking onto the sea, sliding door out into the garden and terrace.

♛ Staff Cottage: There is a self contained staff cottage with Superkingsize or twin room, ensuite bathroom, living room, fully fitted kitchen and another dormitory that can sleep 6 which is available for larger groups.


★ YOGA STUDIO ★

The home comes with a dedicated space for daily yoga practice, with breathtaking sea views to enhance your sessions. The glass wall slides open to wooden steps, past the beach toy shed directly onto the beach. Enjoy energizing sunrise yoga or sunset meditation to the sound of the waves.

The extensive storage cupboards hold seating for 30, eco friendly yoga mats and organic hemp bolsters and blankets for 20 people as well as a load of Cork blocks and straps from ecotex.


Guest access:

The house is exclusively yours, without interruption for the duration of your stay, so relax, unwind, and make yourself at home.

We request that space is left in the drive so we can access the garage from which the staff cottage is accessed at all times and reserve the right to access this demise of the property that unless booked for larger bookings is private. The staff cottage is entirely seperate and can see neither into or be seen outof guest areas.

Housekeeping

We offer hotel level housekeeping and we will work with you to configure the house to your party configuration to provide for greatest comfort and style. For longer bookings a mid-stay housekeeping service is offered to refresh bedlinen, towels and give a deeper clean of the house. We also provide a daily housekeeper for two hours each day of bookings who will turn down the bed, hover the floors (beach sand that builds up quickly), empty the dishwasher and restock the dishwasher and then scoot off again.
