About this property

Little Buckley – A peaceful family & dog-friendly retreat near Sidmouth

Little Buckley is a charming 18C cottage nestled in the historic East Devon village of Sidbury, hosted by Pure Sage Holidays. This beautifully spacious and well-equipped retreat offers flexible accommodation for up to six people. One of the standout features is exclusive access to a privately owned wild field just opposite the cottage—perfect for guests with dogs to run freely or for a peaceful stroll in the stunning Devon countryside. The River Sid runs along the western edge of the field, offering a tranquil spot to relax. Though small, the river is rich in wildlife, and on a lucky day, you might even spot a kingfisher. Please note, use of the field is at guests’ own risk, and access to the river itself is not included.

The cottage itself is designed for comfort, featuring a wood-burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi, parking, an enclosed garden, and a BBQ for summer dining. Situated near the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, guests can explore local attractions, charming villages, and stunning beaches or simply relax in the tranquil private garden.

Inside Little Buckley
Welcome to a perfect blend of comfort and countryside charm. This gem of a property offers generous accommodation with high-quality furnishings. The three well-appointed bedrooms include two flexi super king/twin beds and one king-size bed, ensuring a restful stay for all guests. The cottage also features a stylish family bathroom and a convenient downstairs shower room.

The spacious living room is the heart of the home, offering comfortable seating, a reclining sofa, a smart television, and a beautiful inglenook fireplace with a wood-burning stove—perfect for cosy nights in. A fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer, and all essentials for home-cooked meals.

For dining, guests can enjoy a dedicated dining room or relax in the charming summer room, which overlooks the pretty and tranquil enclosed garden. The garden itself is a safe haven for children and pets, with two patios offering outdoor seating and a BBQ for al fresco dining on warm evenings.

For those needing to catch up on work, Wi-Fi is available throughout the cottage, and a dedicated office space provides a quiet area for remote working.

Parking & Local Amenities
Little Buckley has its own parking space on a gravel driveway. Additional parking is available along the lane opposite the cottage or in the free village car park just a short walk away.

Sidbury is a picturesque and historic village, mentioned in the Domesday Book. It offers a friendly pub serving delicious food, a well-stocked village shop, a cricket club, and even a dog café, all within a few minutes' walk. The village church is one of the few in Devon with a Saxon crypt, and Agatha Christie fans will find an intriguing local connection to discover.

Exploring the Area
Little Buckley is perfectly located for exploring Devon’s stunning countryside and coastline. Situated on the walking route of the East Devon Way, the surrounding landscape offers beautiful trails and the nearby River Sid runs alongside the adjacent lane, passing under a charming bridge—perfect for playing Poohsticks!

The Southwest Coastal Path offers breathtaking clifftop walks, while the market town of Honiton is known for its antique shops. Ottery St Mary hosts the famous Flaming Tar Barrels Festival in November, and nearby Budleigh Salterton and East Budleigh are linked to the explorer Sir Walter Raleigh.

The Regency town of Sidmouth is just a short drive away, offering restaurants, cafés, shopping, and a cinema. For fossil hunters and food lovers alike, Lyme Regis on the Devon/Dorset border is another must-visit destination.
