About this property
The Tobacco Loft Historic house built above an archway located in central Kendal
250 year old tobacco warehouse built over a stone arch, this industrial inspired retreat is a truely unique self-catering escape.
Designed with romance in mind, the honey hued beams, stone walls and handcrafted furnishings are a celebration of its past, with little luxuries like walk in rainfall shower, king sized matress and Egyptian cotton sheets, adding lashings of opulence.
Blending the antique with the modern with a dash of eccentricity this space has oodles of character and soul.
The space
In keeping with its former use, this inspired bolthole oozes industrial style. Lofty double height ceilings, and Lakeland slate stone walls are softened by designer fabrics and natural textures.
The King-sized "Nook bed", is a masterpiece of handcraftmanship, and with the log effect wood burner, invites slow mornings relaxing with breakfast in bed.
The Luxe ensuite seperated by a Crittal glass wall, with monochrome designer tiles, and a walk in rainfall Catchpole and Rye shower, is sure to invigorate you after a day spent walking the fells.
Climb the curved oak staircase to the open plan living area, which has character bursting right through it's double height ceiling. Windows frame picture perfect views over Kendal Castle ( The family home of Catherine Parr, the sixth, and final wife of Henry VIII) to the Lakeland fells beyond.
The solid wood luxury kitchen area is fully equipped with instant hotwater tap, undercounter integrated fridge with ice box, washer/ dryer, dishwasher, 4 ring gas hob, and combi oven . There is a coffee machine, toaster and airfryer available.
The comfortable snuggle armchair invites you to curl up with a book in front of the fireplace in the winter, while in summer, throw open the French doors of the Juliette Balcony and enjoy the cooling breeze with a pot of morning coffee. You are very welcome to use the 32 inch Smart TV, and Marshall blue tooth speaker

About the host
Hosted by Alan Dawson
Born and bred Cumbrian, I live at present in beautiful Windermere.
I am a retired solicitor who in my free time enjoys walking the fells with my dogs, music, rugby and pottery- Not all at once!
Restoring historic and interesting buildings is also a passion, having done much of the work in the Tobacco Loft myself
I am very happy to be able to share this beautiful county with others. I Hope you enjoy your visit as much as we enjoy living here
