About this property
Beautiful Cottage in Idyllic Cotswolds Village
Summary:
Find true Cotswolds charm at Post Box Cottage in Chalford Hill. Built in the 1700s, the cottage has a rich history, serving many purposes, including as a Post Office. Now tastefully modernised, it perfectly blends period charm and contemporary comfort. The cosy interior features a well-equipped kitchen, a comfortable living area, and two inviting bedrooms - one with an ensuite. Ideal for a tranquil getaway, this cottage provides a unique and memorable experience. Private parking for 2 vehicles.
The Space:
Post Box Cottage is well-equipped for a comfortable trip to the Cotswolds with touches of luxury throughout. Upstairs, you'll find two double bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite bathroom with power shower. There is also a second family bathroom with an extra deep free-standing bath. You'll also find a sofa bed downstairs, sleeping up to 6 in total.
Downstairs, the open-plan kitchen, living and dining area is a wonderful space, no matter the season. In the summer months, fling the stable doors open and take in quiet village life. The front of the house is also a sun trap where you can enjoy the outdoor seating and a glass of your favourite tipple. In the winter months, get the wood burner roaring and cosy up for film nights.
For those on a working-holiday, there is also a dedicated office space with chair and desk. This benefits from bags of natural light from the skylight above, plus it has another stable door. So even when the weather is good, you won't feel like you're cooped up inside!

The Neighborhood:
Post Box Cottage is located in the pretty village of Chalford Hill. Brimming with traditional Cotswold stone architecture and beautiful countryside, it doesn't get more quintessential than this! It's a very quiet and peaceful village, though it does boast a fantastic cafe called Boho on the Hill. There are two great pubs under 5 minutes drive away or around 20 minutes walk - the Kings Head in France Lynch and The Ram Inn in Bussage. A similar distance away you'll find Chalford at the bottom of the valley. This larger village also has a convenience store, bakery, cafe and pub.
The cottage is also just a stones throw to the pretty town of Nailsworth which sits on the River Frome and boasts an enticing combination of award-winning restaurants, pubs and cafés, as well as some fabulous independent shops. The town has a flourishing farmers’ market and a great choice of vintage stores. Over the last few years, it has secured a place on the Cotswold foodie map, with increasingly recognised eateries opening such as William’s Fish Market, Food Hall & Oyster Bar, Hobbs House Bakery and the highly-regarded Wilder.
To the south of the cottage and within a 20 minute drive is the brilliant Wild Carrot at Chavenage, where you can enjoy cocktails in the old barn, sustainably-driven food in the café or afternoon tea in the picturesque grounds. Nearby is also Calcot Manor Hotel, set within 220 acres of rewilded Cotswolds countryside. Feast in their restaurant or treat yourself to a well-deserved spa day!
For sports lovers, Forest Green Rovers FC is about 15 minutes away, the Beaufort and Cirencester Polo Clubs are short drives away, and Cheltenham racecourse is around 35 minutes by car.
There’s so much to do in this beautiful corner of England: discover the charming Cotswolds villages and towns or set off on walks in every direction. Tetbury is a must-visit for antique lovers, as is Stroud for its weekly farmers’ market that runs every Saturday. Walkers and nature lovers will adore Westonbirt Arboretum, which is a real spectacle in the spring and autumn months. Plus, there are countless National Trust properties and gardens to explore - you simply can’t get bored.

Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of the Cotswolds, we would recommend bringing a vehicle for your stay. There is private parking space for two vehicles, with further free parking on the street.
