About this property

Our cottage overlooks a birch lined cove on beautiful, private Springwood Lake. The location makes a spectacular starting point for any activity close to Clare, Gladwin or Harrison. We are day trip distance to Cops and Doughnuts (Clare), Higgins Lake State Park, Wilson State Park (Harrison) and Fruitful Orchards, Amish shopping or the RiverWalk Resort & Spa (Gladwin), just to mention a few of our favorites!
Our tastefully decorated cottage home makes for a great family or couples getaway. Enjoy the wood burning fireplace in the family sized living room, play a game on the game table in the sun room, or enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktails on one of our two patios. Read your book in the hammock, take a nature walk or walk to the beach for a swim. We also have a nice fire pit and chairs for enjoying the evening sky. We provide the firewood, you provide the fun!
Springwood Lake is a charming lake with excellent fishing; bass, bluegill, pike and perch. It is a no-wake lake, meaning electric motors only. We have 2 kayaks and a fishing boat available for you. No fishing license is required as our guests!
Other nearby attractions include Soaring Eagle Casino and Central Michigan University (Mt. Pleasant), Wilson State Park (motor boats and beach), Snow Snake Ski & Golf (zip lining, skiing, tubing and golf), there are many Amish shops and roadside stands, golf courses and lakes galore.

Getaway

A comfortable and cozy cottage with plenty of space and lots of quiet. We stayed Sunday to Friday and didn’t see a lot of people on the lake or in the neighborhood-very quiet. We were able to prepare our own meals in the kitchen or on the grill. We enjoyed a movie night each night. A good place to get away from it all.

Peaceful getaway to unplug for awhile.

This is a beautiful, quiet area. The landscaping makes you feel like you're in an exotic place. Very private from neighbors. Lots of fishing and kayaking to keep kids entertained. On rainy days there are many movies and books to choose from. I would highly recommend renting.

Family getaway

Enjoyed our stay so much the first time, this was our second time staying here. It was me, my husband and our 2 boys, ages 14 and 9. We went fishing, swimming and kayaking. Also enjoyed a fire in the fire ring in backyard. The home was beautiful, cozy, plenty of space to relax and stocked well. The owners are very friendly and quick to respond. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it!

Relaxing Vacation on a Private Quiet Lake

Home was spacious and nicely decorated. Loved the chairs outside for reading and there is nice firepit in the yard. Enjoyed fishing in a 12 foot row boat in the private lake across the road. Caught some decent sized bass. Cool VHS tapes and DVDs are available to watch. Nice home to stay at.

Wonderful getaway

We really enjoyed our time here. The home was cozy and welcoming. There was always something to do. It was also fun to have the nostalgia of the vhs and the cds. We would recommend anyone to stay.

Perfect getaway to help relax and recharge

We loved our time at this property and would definitely recommend to others. There are DVDs, books and VHS selection too which adds for a special one of a kind treat and throw back to childhood (for some of us 😉). Games, books and puzzles too. Plus lake is right across the street (easy to access.) Perfect place for a mini or week long get away to relax and recharge. It just felt so homey and comfortable, quiet community (private lake) surrounded by the beauty of nature. With some wonderful Extra personal touches too. Hope to come back again. ( If you have children, this is a great vacation stay to help them unplug and enjoy the simple pleasures of childhood more.)

Great people to deal with

Had a great long weekend at this cottage. The owners are absolutely great to work with and we’re super responsive and pleasant to deal with. Nice semi private location with close easy access to a really nice lake. If your looking for a little getaway by some water to enjoy some fishing this is a really good option.

Perfect lake getaway!

My husband, 2 year old daughter and I came for a long weekend. Cathy was very nice and checking in was easy! We loved the home, everything was clean and had everything we needed! There was an impressive collection of vhs tapes, dvd's, books and games! When we weren't relaxing at the house we were fishing on the lake and swimming! The lake was so clear we could see our toes at the bottom! We caught several large bass, blue gill and perch. It was a perfect weekend. Thanks again!

Wedding in Michigan

The cottage was very cozy - we enjoyed relaxing while we were there. The kids did a lot of fishing and caught a lot too. The neighbors were all very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a relaxing get away.

Peaceful getaway

We were so pleased with this vacation spot! The owners were great to work with and very prompt to respond to questions. The cottage, amenities and surroundings were accurately described and very comfortable. This is a very quiet lake with great fishing and my husband was thrilled! It was definitely the peaceful vacation we were hoping for! Our family loved this place and we look forward to going back in the near future.

Charming, comfortable with fantastic fishing!

We had a fantastic time at this cabin! The cottage is very clean and adorably decorated. It was well supplied with what we needed. Very peaceful neigborhood with deer, chipmunks and many different birds. There is a boat and kayaks available for rent. The fishing and weather was great. We caught largemouth bass, rock bass and perch while we stayed. There is a large variety of movies and games for any rainy days. Cathy and David are wonderful hosts and very responsive to any questions. I would highly recommend staying here!

Relaxing getaway

This was such a great setting for our girl's weekend and we are now going to make it an annual event. We loved the private beach area just a short walk away. We did go get the car to pick up my one friend because she's having health issues and even the short walk was making her short of breath. The view is lovely from the house. We had everything we needed to make meals in the kitchen. We swam in the clean lake . We went shopping at the Amish store. They had such beautiful furniture and housewares. The one twin bed was not really good for an adult, but there are plenty of places to sleep. We watched a movie at night , played games, enjoyed the peace and quiet. Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful cottage.

Cottage lived up to everything that Cathy and David said and then some.

I sold my chalet in Harrison last fall so I had to find something to rent close to Harrison so we could hunt the spring turkey season. Loon Lookout cottage fit the bill, all thee accommodations were perfect for our needs in and around the cottage.looking forward to next year. by the way we filled our limit for this turkey season.

Once again, exceeded my expectations!

The Loon Lookout Cottage is a great place to stay. We had a very relaxing time. Our 5 kids stayed with us at the cottage this time. We had a great time. We hiked down to the lake association park and played there. The kids played all kinds of games in the yard with kick balls. We played some basketball with the hoop on the garage. We hid Easter eggs outside and the kids had an egg hunt. We had a couple camp fires in the fire pit. We went into Harrison searching for lakes with open water to do some fishing (no luck there), but we went out to eat at the Budd Lake bar and that was fun and good food. We also played at the city park in Harrison, it is HUGE, and the kids loved it. Overall great time. Once again, the stay at the Loon Lookout Cottage exceeded my expectations. Thank you Cathy and David.
