About this property
Ferndale House - Four Bedroom House, Sleeps 8
Nestled in the heart of the historic village of Middleham, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this Grade II-listed house offers impressive accommodation to families and groups of friends. The host village is just an introduction to the region’s rich history thanks to the 12 th -century Middleham Castle which sits less than 200 metres from the property. Only 2 miles away, the market town of Leyburn is steeped in horseracing history and plays host to weekly markets and a quaint selection of independent shops. For days of outdoor adventure and family attractions, the Yorkshire Dales National Park sits just 2.5 miles away where the popular spots of Aysgarth, Askrigg, and Hawes all await with 18 miles. Enjoy a family trip to the many tunnels, chambers and follies at The Forbidden Corner (2.5 miles), and further afield, visit one of Britain’s prettiest market towns in Richmond (12.5 miles).
This beautiful, three-storey property is the perfect base for a large group seeking a blend of historic charm and modern comforts. The home’s layout is thoughtfully designed to cater to families and groups of friends, offering both communal areas and quiet corners for moments of peace. Step into the welcoming entrance hall with its flagstone flooring and kick off muddy boots after a day of Yorkshire Dales hiking. Feel the history of the Grade II-listed building as you move through to the inviting, well-appointed kitchen, where you’ll find all you need to cook up a feast using the Yorkshire ingredients you sourced earlier in the day. Eat at the breakfast table here if numbers are low, gather as a group in the adjoining formal dining room, or dine alfresco in the delightful walled garden outside. For some post-dinner relaxation, enjoy a choice of space in which to unwind. The ground floor plays host to a cosy snug, made even more inviting by its crackling wood burner, soft seating and board games. Head upstairs to find the main lounge on the first floor where comfortable sofas are arranged around a Smart TV for memorable movie nights together. In the day, sit in the cute window seats here and watch life pass by in the market square below. When day turns to night, four sumptuous bedrooms are spread across the first and second floors. On the first floor, choose from a king-size bedroom and a double room, both of which share use of the well-appointed family shower room with a walk-in shower. Up on the second floor awaits a welcoming twin room with garden views, and an impressive king-size bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with a free-standing, roll-top bath.
The breathtaking outdoor space is what sets this property apart from others. Accessed from the French doors in the kitchen awaits a stunning, fully enclosed walled garden with lawns, flower beds and trailing plants. Gather at the patio on sunny days and dine alfresco, perhaps using the charcoal BBQ, as you watch the little ones play on the grass. If it’s wet and cold, worry not, a well-equipped summer house awaits with underfloor heating, another Smart TV and comfortable sofas. You will also find a vintage desk here if you need to answer any mid-holiday emails. Store bikes and other outdoor gear in the secure shed, and whilst no private parking is available, you’ll find roadside parking outside the front door.
