About this property
Relaxing Villa Iris- 3 bedrooms, private pool, garden and beautiful sea views
Villa Iris is a spacious 3 bedroom villa located in a quiet part of Kalkan (Kiziltas) which is ideal for a great relaxing family holiday. It is a large 415m sq. plot with a private infinity pool (45m sq.) on a spacious terrace and the villa has its own private garden with fruit trees, flowers and shrubs, as well as a beautiful view of the bay.
Villa Iris has air conditioning in every room (which can be used to warm the rooms in the winter) and a well-equipped kitchen including gas hob, electric oven, kettle, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, electric filter coffee maker, cafetiere, tea pot, as well as plenty of glasses and crockery- everything you need for a relaxing holiday. There is a small utility room under the stairs that has a washing machine, iron, ironing board as well as a clothes airer (and highchair and cot on request).
Just outside the sliding patio doors (from the dining room), there is a covered pergola with a large marble topped table, which seats 6 comfortably. This is ideally placed for al-fresco dining, at any time of the day. As the area is totally covered, guest are able to eat outside even if the weather wet.
There is also a small gas BBQ located outside in the garden area, if required.
There are 6 external sunbeds with cushions, 3 large umbrellas, and 3 small sunbed tables. These are all surrounding the pool, on the large patio area at the front of the villa.
There are also 2 comfortable chairs and a 2 seater sofa (which can be moved) great for evening drinks on the patio terrace.
There are smoke alarms in each bedroom, at the top of the stairs and in the main living area. There is also a carbon monoxide alarm, fire blanket, and fire extinguishers (at all levels) provided for your safety.
The bedrooms all have en-suite shower rooms, with a jacuzzi bath in the en-suite of the upper terrace bedroom. The bedrooms all face the sea view and each have their own balcony with a small table and seating, ideal for a morning coffee or evening drink. There are two bedrooms on the first floor (a twin and a double) and one on the second floor (double). All bedrooms contain wardrobes, chest of drawers and bedside tables. Bathroom towels are provided (hand and bath towels) and bedlinen. There is also a hairdryer available for use in each bedroom.
There is also a small toilet/washroom downstairs (located in the hallway by the front door). We provide pool towels for use around the private pool. However, guests may want to bring a few beach towels or they can be purchased cheaply locally/at the Thursday Market.
As well as Wi-fi throughout, there is a TV streaming UK channels (and some international channels) via the internet, and a bluetooth speaker for playing music. There is also a library of books, as well as a few board games.
On arrival at the villa you will be met by one of our representatives, who will show you around the villa, give you the keys and answer any questions. A welcome pack of some essentials e.g. bread, tea, butter, etc. awaits you on arrival.
The garden and pool are tended to every day. Therefore, someone will always be around to help, if needed. The villa manager can be contacted by phone and the owners can be contacted by phone or email throughout your stay. Any problems are dealt with as swiftly as possible, to ensure a relaxing stay at Villa Iris.
Villa Iris has steps up from the road as well as two flights of stairs within the house (please see the photographs.) The villa, therefore, may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Please ask if you are in any doubt. We are happy to answer any questions potential guests may have before the booking process.
Although the villa is not situated in the centre of the town, a 15-20 minute walk (or 5-minute drive by taxi) finds you in the heart of the town where there are low key bars, excellent restaurants, and numerous speciality shops to browse in - selling crafts, clothes and leather goods to name but a few. Many historical sites and superb beaches are within easy reach of Kalkan, making it an ideal holiday destination.
As Villa Iris overlooks Kalkan Bay (situated on the hillside in Kiziltas), a car is not necessarily needed if there are no mobility issues and if people are happy to walk into the centre of Kalkan. The journey back to the villa is up quite a steep incline, so most people catch a taxi back, with fares being quite cheap. Taxis can also pick up guests from the villa and a telephone number is usually provided in the villa. Trips can be organised by the car hire/travel firms or taxis can be hired for specific destinations.
A dolmus service runs from the bus station (or from town) and Kas, Patara, and Kaputas can be easily reached.
There is a regular bus service to Fethiye, and further afield, from the bus station.
There are many flights to Dalaman and Antalya airports from all the major airports in the UK. The flight is approx. 4-4.5 hours long to Dalaman, with Dalaman being the closest airport to Kalkan. Transfers to Kalkan take about 90 minutes via good roads links. (Antalya airport transfers are longer - approx. 3 hours by taxi.)
We can arrange a taxi transfer for you from the airport to Villa Iris or car hire can be arranged to meet you at the airport. Also car hire can be organised for any time during your stay. Please ask for details when booking.
Kalkan is perfect for a relaxing holiday and has managed to avoid mass tourism. The town has a quaint historic harbour with the narrow streets of the old town twisting down to the harbour. Behind, Kalkan is surrounded by the Taurus mountains. Kalkan is convenient for accessing the numerous historical sites and ruins. The town beach in Kalkan is small, so there are plenty of beach clubs that can be visited nearby. Kaputas and Patara Beaches are close by, with Patara having 12 km of sandy beach.
Kalkan has nearly 300 days of sunshine per year, with July and August being the hottest months.
Kalkan has over 100 restaurants and is well known for its excellent food. Many restaurants have roof top terraces. There are a few nightclubs, but the nightlife is low key.
Kalkan also has a weekly market, where you can haggle with sellers. Clothes, handbags (and other bags), belts and other gifts can be bought here to take home. Fresh vegetables and fresh produce is also available.
Kalkan is located on the Lycian coastline which has some of the most mountainous and dramatic landscapes in Turkey. There is a wealth of history in the region and today numerous tombs and ruins can be explored, as well as lazing on lovely beaches. An easy drive from the airport, Kalkan can be reached in 90 minutes and traditional Turkish life can be observed from the road.

About the host
Hosted by Sharon Morgan

We are located in Wales, in the UK. We fell in love with Kalkan on our very first visit. We have been hosting guests for over 10 years and hope that our guests love Kalkan as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
Kalkan is a friendly place with a superb selection of restaurants and bars, suiting all budgets and preferences.
Kalkan has a variety of activities on and off the sea. There are boat trips from the harbour, beach clubs with decks and trampolines, horse riding available at Patara along with ancient ruins by the beach, and some further afield.
Saklikent Gorge, Kaputas beach, Kas, and Fethiye are all accessible by taxi, Dolmus or bus from the bus station (Otogar)

What makes this property unique
Villa Iris is in a great location to explore Kalkan and the surrounding area. The villa has stunning views of the bay as it is situated on the hillside. However, as it is just out of the main town area, it is in a quiet area, with easy access to some local shops for everyday items. Villa Iris is well equipped for a relaxing and comfortable stay.
