About the host
Hosted by Dina Goncalves

Meet your hosts, proud natives of Câmara de Lobos, Madeira, who carry the rich heritage of the island in their hearts. Born and raised in a family of traditional "Xavelhas" they are the children of dedicated fisherman fathers and loving mothers who had a passion for sewing. Despite the challenges, Madeira's breathtaking beauty—the ever-present sea and the abundance of fresh fish, including the iconic "Peixe Espada Preta"—was a source of comfort and joy.
In search of better opportunities, they made the difficult decision to emigrate but always held a dream of returning to their beloved Madeira. Valuing their roots and the legacy they left behind, this home stands as a testament to their dedication, resilience, and a heartfelt tribute to their parents. More than just a home, this property is a symbol of legacy and hope for future generations. Named "JPL" after the initials of their children, the house marks the beginning of a new chapter while honouring their deep-rooted heritage. It stands as a bridge between past, present, and future. They hope you will cherish and enjoy this house as much as they do, as it embodies their love for the island and their family’s enduring spirit.
