About this property

Beachfront cottage on the Moray coast, Sunsets, Wildlife, Northern Lights & more

OTTER'S HOLT Cottage is on the edge of a friendly coastal town. Ideal location for walking and cycling. Short walk to shops, restaurants and pubs. Located just a few steps from the beach & with luck a view of seals, whales, otters & dolphins that visit. Central location for various distillery tours. Lots of bird and wildlife to study close by. Supermarket a short distance away. Public swimming Pool and Leisure Centre in nearby Buckie. Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay.
Guests will have their own access at the front of the property, where there is also ample car parking available. The front door takes you into a small porch then into a hallway, where you can access the spacious well furnished living/dining room (this also has a very comfy double sofa bed). Here you will find the TV with Sky package and assorted DVD's and games, which can be played on the Xbox 360, along with an assortment of card and board games. There is another large sofa and a dining table which can seat up to 8 people. Across the hall you will find both the newly fitted kitchen and the bathroom. The large kitchen consists of a combined oven/grill, microwave, kettle, toaster, crockery & cutlery and dishwasher. There is also an adjacent utility room with tumble dryer and washing chine. The large bathroom consists of a walk in shower, large bath, W.C. and was hand basin. Along the hallway you will find the two bedrooms, the first consists of a double bed plus a single with a trundle bed beneath, along with a TV with DVD player & Amazon Fire Stick. The second has two single beds, both bedrooms have ample storage space. Located in the hallway you will also find a small desk and chair.

There is also a garden area to the front of the house with easy access to the beach and Moray Coast Trail and the Speyside Way (both only a few short steps away at the rear of the property).

Full access to the cottage, along with a shed to store bikes if needed. There is also access to an outdoor BBQ & firepit.

There is a dog box at the fron entrance which contains doggy towels. Beach equipment is available i.e. small beach tent, large beach towels, volleyball net, buckets, spades and fishing nets for the kids.

With 3 local golf courses within easy access, we are also at the gateway to the Malt Whisky trail with access to more than 50 distilleries. Stunning Spey Bay is just a lovely walk along the Moray Coastal trail, where you will find the Whale & Dolphin Centre and as you walk along you will pass our local colony of grey and common seals sunbathing on the beach at Portgordon.

You may be lucky and spot some of our more illusive wildlife i.e. Sea Otters, Dolphins and if you stay at the right time of year you may be lucky enough to view the Northern Lights from the front of the cottage.

Sue & I moved to Buckie in June 2022, moving up from Manchester. Sue is originally a Lincolnshire lass and I come from Inverness. We love walking with our dog Tia and we both love taking lots of photos of our local bird and sea life, along with the Northern Lights when we're especially lucky.

Why they chose this property

We enjoy our home because every day is a different view, never two days the same, even in winter when the wind is blowing and the waves are crashing in. There is so much wildlife to view as well. I suppose really it's the spectacular sunsets that make it really special.

What makes this property unique

We are right on the beach front and have lots of seating outside to watch the glorious sunsets and also to sit and watch the world go by.
