About this property
Bridgegate - Five Bedroom House, Sleeps 10
Set on the banks of the River Derwent near Belper in Derbyshire’s Amber Valley, this beautiful and spacious period home offers delightful accommodation to extended families and groups of friends. Tranquillity and privacy are assured thanks to the private lane that leads to the property, which keen ramblers can follow to find a wealth of riverside walks that lead to Belper (1 mile) and other surrounding towns and villages. Belper offers a charming mix of antique shops and traditional pubs and restaurants, as well as an independent cinema for rainy days. Other nearby towns with just as much Derbyshire character include Matlock (10 miles) and Ashbourne (11 miles). With the Peak District National Park only 12.5 miles away, this is a great base for hikers, cyclists, and fellow lovers of the outdoors. Closer attractions include Belper River Gardens (1 mile), White Peak Distillery, and the Great British Car Journey Museum (both within 4 miles).
On arrival at this splendid property, take a moment to appreciate the peaceful greenery that surrounds you and listen to the sound of the babbling River Derwent nearby. The period-style charm starts outside and continues as you step inside to the welcoming entrance hall, where you can kick off walking boots and hang coats – find handy information on the local area here, too. Head deeper into the house and find original cottage features combined with modern, sumptuous comforts. Walk into the impressive kitchen/diner, where you’ll find all the amenities necessary for cooking up feasts for your group, as well as a crackling wood burner and a spacious dining table set beneath a cute chandelier in the light of the large bay window. From the kitchen, amble through to the light and airy, open-aspect lounge – the social heart of the home. Swing open the patio doors here to let the countryside air flow in, sink into the soft seating and flick on the Smart TV to catch up on your favourite films. Keen musicians will enjoy the traditional upright piano in here, too. When day turns to night, choose from five sumptuous bedrooms, each with luxurious linen and individual decor – one on the ground floor and four further bedrooms on the first floor. On the ground floor you’ll find a king-size bedroom and a well-appointed shower room with a WC. Upstairs are four more bedrooms, served by the well-equipped family bathroom and a separate shower room with a large walk-in shower. These bedrooms comprise a double, two king-size, and a super-king-size with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins on request.
Outside, guests can make full use of the manicured gardens and various patio spaces that surround the property and offer sights and sounds of the River Derwent. Children can play safely in this enclosed area. Choose from several peaceful spots to settle with your holiday read or an al fresco drink. Enjoy outdoor meals using the BBQ and patio furniture, and afterwards, soak the night away in the private hot tub.
