On the first floor, you’ll find three comfortable traditionally furnished bedrooms, ideal for recovering following a day of exploration to Keswick or climbing nearby Scawfell. The ground floor has a well-appointed family bathroom, a fully equipped open-plan kitchen/diner, a spacious living area and a paved rear yard, making it the perfect home away from home for a relaxing stay.
Nestled on the fringes of the quiet West Lake District, Coast to Coast Cottage offers a prime location to explore one of the UK’s most iconic natural landscapes. Head into the National Park for an abundance of walking and cycling trails that suit all abilities, with highlights like Buttermere, Derwentwater and Wasdale just a short drive away, or enjoy the breathtaking views of fells and sandy coastline from some of the region’s finest peaks.
For those keen on coastal adventures, the Cumbrian coast offers hidden gems like the beaches at St Bees or the Edwardian town of Whitehaven once an entry point for the import of Rum and slaves to the UK and the start of the C2C cycle route. The house is right on the famous Wainright’s Coast to Coast walk, (an ideal first spot to rest up on a staged journey) which stretches from St. Bees, then east to Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire. Nearby Cockermouth is the birthplace of William and Dorothy Wordsworth here and the Roman port of Maryport offers an array of shops and cafes and a rich history to explore. The cottage is an hour’s drive north to the Scottish border, Hadrian’s Wall, and the town of GretnaGreen.
After a day of adventure, treat yourself to a hearty meal at one of the popular country pubs, serving excellent traditional food and real ales.
