It’s part of a Grade II listed beautiful oast house conversion, just outside the pretty village of Lenham in Kent, on the grounds of a working arable farm. With its original features, including the exposed beams and unusual additions, like the spiral staircase, it’s the perfect base to explore the beauty of the Garden of England.
The space upon entering through a wide wooden door, your first sight will be of the exquisite wrought iron, spiral staircase that links the lounge with the upstairs bedroom. You will no doubt spot the original artwork on the walls, created by the talented owner, who is also an artist - do let us know if you would like to purchase any of her pieces! You’ll then notice the open plan living area, with the plush teal sofa that you can sink into, and the quirky lounge furniture that the owner has lovingly restored. The kitchen that runs alongside has everything you’ll need for a home cooked meal, along with the typical mod cons. Through another rustic wooden door is the quirky, spacious bathroom, with its large shower area, porcelain units and vintage mirror. Upstairs you’ll find the large, interesting bedroom, with kingsize bed, comfy furnishings and a beautiful view of the grounds up one end, with a vanity area, exposed hanging space and a full-length mirror to the other. The split door at the end opens to reveal an additional exit to the side of the property, down the outside steps. The name Manor Pen relates to the enclosed area visible from the bedroom door, where traditionally escaped livestock would be caught and held until the owner was able to retrieve it.
A great starting point to explore southeast England known for its stunning countryside, historic towns, and beautiful coastline. One of the most popular attractions in Kent is the Canterbury Cathedral, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England. The White Cliffs of Dover are another must-see attraction in Kent. The cliffs are made of chalk and offer stunning views of the English Channel. For those who love nature, the Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest is a beautiful place to visit with its variety of trees and walking trails. Other popular attractions include Leeds Castle, Dover Castle, and the historic town of Rochester. Kent is also home to several charming seaside towns, including Margate, Broadstairs, and Whitstable, which are perfect for a day trip or a weekend getaway. Beach 20 miles. Pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
