About this property

The Carpenters Shop | Winterton Cottages

The Carpenters Shop is situated in the heart of the beautiful Norfolk village of Fleggburgh. This three bedroom property offers lots of outside space to enjoy and a short 10 minutes drive of a choice of beaches at either Winterton-on-Sea, Caister or Hemsby. The Norfolk Broads are close by and there's a fantastic pub - The Kings Arms - just 5 mins walk from the house.

This quirky and eccentric property has reminders of its history throughout, including old tools regenerated as clothes hooks and old oil canisters converted to fabulous light fittings.

Through the front door is a large entrance hall. The three bedrooms are all situated downstairs with a lift or stairs to the first floor, making this property fully accessible for all. The main bedroom has a kingsize bed with en suite shower room, with two further bedrooms having a standard double bed, and two 3' single beds. There is a modern bathroom with large walk in shower, sink and WC.

In addition to the bedrooms downstairs, there's an open plan living space with a dining table for six and a comfortable L-shaped sofa to enjoy views of the garden. Patio doors to the garden and patio areas help welcome the outside in. There is a handy utility area with small fridge, sink, washing machine and accessories to outside via the back door.

Venture upstairs via the spiral staircase (or you can use the lift in the hall). A large open plan living area has a corner sofa, additional sofa, Smart TV, kitchen area and dining area. The kitchen is well equipped with a breakfast bar and four bar stools, an electric hob and oven, dishwasher and an under counter fridge and freezer. There is also an air fryer and Tassimo coffee machine. Patio doors open up to a balcony with bistro set for the perfect place for morning coffee.

To the rear of the property there is a spacious enclosed garden with patio and BBQ area enclosed with chestnut and wire stock fence. Beyond the garden fencing there is a 2.5 acre fully enclosed exercise paddock for the sole use of guests which has 1.2m wire stock fence all the way round in addition to hedging on 3 sides. There is off road parking at the front of the property for multiple vehicles. Unlimited number of dogs are welcome free of charge.

8/10 Good

Winter stay

A great property for those with physical disabilities thanks to the lift. What let's this down as perfect is the low toilets with zero hand rails etc. So for those with physical disabilities who struggle to rise bringing a raiser or similar is essential. We experienced 4 seasons in one week, rain, sun, gales and snow and ice. The paddock, great, we didn't need to drive in the snow and ice. The garden, great, for those with reactive dogs the garden, whilst secure, looks openly onto the next doors drive and front door meaning dogs are seeing people coming and going which was triggering so supervision was needed whilst the dogs were outside. We had a few issues with repairs shower handle, broken blind, no working tin opener which took 7 days upon reporting for someone to attend and supply ones and check the issues. The location is great, although, the property photos made it seem like it was set back from the road but in reality it's right on a busy road so care needs to be taken getting dogs in and out. I would definitely recommend this property and book again bringing equipment needed to mitigate the low toilets. The only word of warning to note is keep the windows closed on Tuesday evenings, we had looked forward to sampling the chips from the chip can across the road but the smell of the old oil and fish was not appealing.

A wonderful place to stay

We have just returned from The Carpenters Shop and have already booked to return next year. It is beautifully laid out, comfortable and equipped with everything you could need. The garden is spacious and the paddock is a lovely space to use when you just want a play with the dogs or maybe some search games or training. There are several lovely beaches nearby, Winterton was our favourite. Tacons farm shop has lovely fresh veg, meat, cheese, homemade pies, bread and cakes. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Nippy Chippy food van serves from the car park opposite. Food can be pre ordered and is freshly cooked. If your dogs are people reactive, the bungalow next door overlooks the garden, but the occupants are friendly. A busy road runs past it but once inside, it doesn't cause a disturbance. We can't wait to go back next year.

A home we'd love to live in forever

Carpenters Shop is just the nicest property. On arrival immaculately clean and tidy, everything we could possibly need right on hand. Top of the range cooking facilities, Ninja included! The upside down living was perfect and the lift to get food supplies upstairs on arrival was welcomed and loved by the 12 year old in our party. Parking a doddle and access to the garden spot on. Great location for exploring this part of Norfolk, well furnished with nice shops and pubs nearby. The 2.5 acre orchard/paddock was the highlight for us and our 13 dogs - so nice to be able to use this as well as our daily walks and ensure they had as good a holiday as we humans did. One of the very few holiday homes I've stayed in that I'd love to live in forever - was sad to leave and hope to be back. Don't hesitate on booking this fabulous, quirky, well set out and thoughtful property.
