About this property
Spacious oasis of calm
The house occupies a superb location in a residential area with easy access to Chesil Beach, Bridport and the beautiful Dorset countryside, but within walking distance of the town centre, main beaches and marina. The charming Rodwell Trail with its small coves, castle ruins dating back to 1539, stunning views of the coastline and the Isle of Portland is a mere 5-minute walk from the house.
The house, built in 1840, is large and spacious and still retains many original features such as window shutters and fireplaces whilst also offering modern day comforts including Wi-Fi, and central heating throughout. The accommodation is spread over 4 floors: at the top is the main bedroom with super king-sized bed (6ft wide) and adjoining bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower cubicle. Four further double bedrooms include 2 with king size beds (5ft wide) and 2 rooms each with 2 single beds. There are 3 further bath/ shower rooms and another 2 separate toilets.
The main living area on the ground floor comprises a superb kitchen including table and chairs overlooking beautiful garden, with its south facing back lawn and shrubbery. A very large lounge with tv and bifold doors gives access to the southwest facing patio complete with outdoor seating and lighting. The dining room at the front of the house overlooks the green which usually has a Christmas tree bedecked with lights erected by residents of the square over the festive period.
A games room offering table tennis, pool table and dart board in the basement, and a utility room, complete with washer and dryer, complete the house.
The house has its own driveway with enough room for 3 cars to park free of charge.
While spacious, the house is cosy and relaxing. We have spent many a happy hour here and hope you will too.
